Celebrity Nail Polish Trend to Try: Pretty Pastels

May 2, 2012 @ 1:00 pm

One easy way to wear spring’s big pastel trend is on your nails. This week, Jessica Alba dressed up her look with a lilac mani, Michelle Trachtenberg wore a seafoam lacquer, and Ginnifer Goodwin added a pop of color to her LBD with a robin’s egg blue. “I just loved that it was a blue that doesn’t make my hands look dead,” the actress told InStyle.com of why she picked the hue. We love how the shades are soft and feminine without being fussy. Plus, they flatter every skin tone and pack a lot of punch when worn with contrasting hues. When opting for this lighter look, remember to keep your finishes in mind—ultra-glossy top coats create a high-fashion feel, while a jeweled glitter swipe adds a touch of sparkle. Just be sure to steer clear of matte polishes—the lack of shine makes the colors chalky with a Wite-Out-esque appearance. For more celebrity manicure ideas, click through the gallery now.

Michelle Trachtenberg’s Heels: Her Own Design!

Aug 12, 2011 @ 9:30 am

Michelle Trachtenberg was excited to show off her new black platforms with studded gray snakeskin backs, and for a good reason—she designed them herself! “Can you read the inside? It says Michelle Trachtenberg for Stuart Weitzman,” she told us at InStyle‘s Summer Soiree. “I’ve been in them for at least two hours and they don’t hurt. I knew exactly what I was doing. I was like, “I need a platform. I need this and I want that.” This is the shoe I’ve always tried to find!” Trachtenberg’s design will debut on Fashion’s Night Out (September 8th), and as part of Stuart Weitzman’s Young Hollywood Cares Collection, all proceeds will benefit ovarian cancer research. The annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner drew loads of stars to Washington D.C. Saturday night, where strapless and asymmetrical dresses were the look of the evening. Mila Kunis (right) chose a simple black Versace number with thigh-high slits and unexpected back pockets, while Brooklyn Decker  went for a cherry-hued Giambattista Valli frock whose neckline highlighted her new short ‘do. Scarlett Johansson also showed off her latest hairstyle in a sea foam green Elie Saab dress that offset the color of her freshly dyed red bob. Michelle Tractenberg to Launch Collection With Rebecca Taylor

Feb 11, 2011 @ 6:29 pm

Backstage at the Rebecca Taylor fashion show today, Michelle Tractenberg exclusively revealed to InStyle that she’s planning to create a capsule collection with the designer. “It’s a ways away, but we’re conceptualizing,” said Tractenberg, wearing a Rebecca Taylor sweater and jacket and an Erickson Beamon necklace. “We’ve  been talking closely about what makes a girl a girl and a woman a woman and what definitive moments in a woman’s life can be like articulated in a woman’s outfit. It’ll be very ladylike for those different moments and occasions we all have.” Therefore, the actress has been spending lots of time in Taylor’s showroom. “I guess it’s surreal that I’m good friends with designers whose work I really admire and love,” she said. We can’t wait to see their upcoming collection!

Michelle Trachtenberg’s Gossip Girl Season 4 Style: “I Carry a $15K Bag!”

Aug 12, 2010 @ 1:47 pm

At last night’s BlackBerry Torch event, we chatted with Gossip Girl‘s resident villian, Michelle Trachtenberg, about her upcoming style in Season 4. “Georgina’s back to wearing leather. She went a season and a half without wearing a lot of leather leggings and now they’re back!” she told us. And when we queried Trachtenberg on her favorite look of Georgina’s this season, she said, “I  wore a $15,000 Valentino bag straight off the runway. It had its own bodyguard! It was intense.” And as far as the rest of Georgina’s wardrobe, it mirrors Trachtenberg’s own: “I always know when my fittings are happening because [the wardrobe closet] is all black, which looks like my closet. Shocker!” Stay tuned for our weekly fashion sneak peeks from the new season, premiering September 13th.
