Michelle Obama Puts Her Own Spin on a Sequin Skirt

What a look for Michelle Obama! The First Lady wore a sequin fishtail skirt by Michael Kors to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Phoenix Awards in Washington, D.C. this weekend. The piece is from the designer’s fall 2010 collection, and you can see how she reinterpreted the runway look for real life by pairing it with a simple black top and cinching it together with a corset belt by Peter Soronen. Runway Looks We Love: Michael Kors

Michael Kors’ latest lineup offers the sportswear designer’s take on safari chic clothes. He named the collection “Afriluxe,” and literal interpretations of the voyager girl in Africa were clear on the runway with animal prints, rugged boots, and oversize travel bags. Colors were desert-like, with limestone and clay paired with warm sunset shades of amber and sienna. The rawness of the clothes—distressed linen and leather, for example—matched the stripped down beauty, as models showed off tanned skin and wildly natural matte textured hair. Michael Kors Is Getting Married!

Michael Kors and his longtime boyfriend Lance LePere are making it official! The couple was spotted picking up their marriage license at the City Clerk’s Office in Manhattan this week. “Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together,” Kors told US. “We have no plans for a major party, but we will be getting married privately.” Congratulations to the happy couple! Michael Kors’ New Jewelry Collection: See the Photos!

Fans of Michael Kors‘ watches, take note! The designer has partnered with Fossil to launch his first full collection of jewelry for fall 2011, and we have a sneak peek at the baubles! “If you can’t afford to collect sculpture or modern art, you can afford to have an incredible pair of silver cuffs or an incredible sculptural ring,” Kors said in a statement. The jewelry collection will hit select Michael Kors boutiques in August, and prices will range from $45 to $375. Click through the gallery to see the full lineup!
