Bravo, Michael Douglas! The Academy Award-winning actor delivered a wow-worthy performance as the pianist Liberace in Behind the Candelabra, the HBO film that debuted this weekend. With Matt Damon as his lover, Scott Thorson, and Rob Lowe as his plastic surgeon, Dr. Jack Startz, the movie had us glued to the screen asking, This really happened?! Yes. It did. And the stars liked working on it just as much as we enjoyed watching it. “This was the first movie I ever enjoyed wardrobe fittings on,” Damon said in an interview with HBO. “I did probably eight, ten wardrobe fittings? And we really got into it; it was really fun. The clothes were so different from anything that I’d ever put on. They changed me so much, the way they make me stand, or walk, or move a different way. I really got into it.” So, just for fun, click to see several stills from the Steven Soderbergh-directed flick that will reinforce why it’s such an attention-getter.
Liberace is back! To play the iconic pianist in HBO’s Behind the Candleabra, Michael Douglas is donning his best rhinestone-studded suit to mirror the musician’s avant-garde style. The film also features Matt Damon playing Liberace’s lover Scott Thorson, and if the previews are any indicator, we’re expecting high drama accompanied by some epic sartorial choices. We can’t wait! Catch Behind the Candelabra tonight at 9 PM EST on HBO.

Did you enjoy a tall glass of H20 today? Consider yourself lucky. Currently, 780 million people are without access to safe water, water.org reports, which is why we’re throwing our support behind World Water Day today, an annual international event that raises awareness and advocates for freshwater globally and sustainable water resources. And we’re not the only ones—Matt Damon founded the non-profit water.org to get the message out, and you can help, too. Visit water.org/help to find out how you can get involved, make a donation at donate.water.org, and post a picture on Instagram and hashtag it #waterday. There’s also a super-handy water bottle (perfect for spring and summer trips!) that Damon’s BFF Ben Affleck adores—pick one up yourself for $25 at water.org/gift; proceeds go directly to supporting water.org’s initiatives.

There’s still two more days of New York Fashion Week, and the stars keep coming out to support their favorite designers. There has been no shortage of dapper gentlemen sitting front row at New York Fashion Week, and Matt Damon wasn’t the only one we spotted. German model Johannes Huebl (and partner to Olivia Palermo) flashed his baby blues at the Tibi show, Twilight star Peter Facinelli went to the Nautica show, and Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco swapped in his quarterback cleats for dress shoes to watch the Tommy Hilfiger menswear show. Swoon!

Naeem Khan had some of his biggest fans sitting front row at his fall 2013 runway show—and they just so happen to be Mr. and Mrs. Matt Damon. The actor, fresh off launching his World Water Day campaign, did not hold back on his supportive feelings for his pal’s handiwork, emphatically clapping, cheering, and smiling as each look passed him by. “Wow, this is amazing!” we saw him say to his wife, particularly about the final three crystal-covered slip and column gowns, shown above. “It’s lots of details, things molded to the body, and luxurious materials,” Khan told InStyle.com before the show of his opulent creations that caused jaw-dropping reactions. “We’re using pearls and crystals. Even the laces from France are amazing and the embroideries are each done by hand with silk threads and gold threads.” We can see why it was worth the wow!

Matt Damon knows the power of a good suit! And that’s what he told the audience when he accepted a Special Career Tribute honor at the 22nd annual Gotham Independent Film Awards presented by the Independent Film Project in New York City last night. “I was here 15 years ago at the Gotham Awards and I remember that because it was right before Good Will Hunting came out and it was the first time my life became surreal because Calvin Klein gave me a suit for free,” he said during his acceptance speech. “I realized I was putting it on, and I added up all the clothes I had ever owned in my life, they wouldn’t be worth as much as the suit I as putting on. I feel very privileged to do what I do. I have never taken it for granted and I never will.” Fast forward 15 years, he can still get as many CK suits as he wants—and picked another one for last night’s event, a symbolic decision (even though the label sponsored the ceremony). “I was putting it on, and I saw that it was Calvin Klein, another free suit, again, that surreal part of my life,” he told InStyle.com of wearing the slate gray style when we caught up with him backstage after his speech. “My wife would tell you that I haven’t transformed at all fashion-wise,” he added. “There are these things where they give you a suit, and so it looks like you know what the hell you are doing!”

Reporters and photographers swarmed Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso as they entered the Naeem Khan fashion show today, making his first-ever New York Fashion Week experience an intense one. “This is my very first show of my life,” Damon told InStyle.com. “I don’t know what to expect! But it’ll be great because it’s coming from Naeem.” The couple, who held hands during the entire show, is friends with the designer.
