Watch Dior’s Lady Blue Shanghai Film

May 17, 2010 @ 4:36 pm

As the star of Dior’s Lady Dior short films, Marion Cotillard has climbed the Eiffel Tower and rocked out with Franz Ferdinand. In the latest installment of the series, Lady Blue Shanghai, the French actress plays a businesswoman whose discovery of a mysterious blue Lady Dior bag unlocks the memory of a dizzying love affair in the Chinese metropolis. Cotillard channels a Hitchcock-era heroine in a gray suit while the luxe bag literally shines. The enigmatic film, written and directed by David Lynch, made its debut at Dior’s cruise collection show on Saturday night, but now you can take a peek yourself. Enjoy!

Stars Without Stylists: Diane, Marion & January

Diane Kruger and Marion Cotillard consistently blow us away with their gorgeous red carpet choices—Kruger’s fuchsia Christian Lacroix gown (far left) at the Golden Globes and Cotillard’s beaded ivory Elie Saab Couture (center) at the SAG Awards were particularly memorable—and we were amazed to learn that neither actress employs a stylist.  “[Diane and Marion] are both clearly working with very sophisticated and informed taste levels in terms of style and importantly, they understand what looks good on them,” stylist Arianne Phillips told TheDailyBeast.com. With so many eyes on the red carpet, it’s a brave move for any star to go it alone, and stylist Shirley Kurata explains that we may see more actresses sporting their own picks. “Studios are cutting budgets for stylists, so a lot of girls are dressing themselves,” she said. Whatever the reason, it’s refreshing to know that burgeoning style stars such as Mad Men‘s January Jones, who looked chic in black Lanvin (far right) for the Golden Globes, are still getting noticed in dresses of their own choosing. “She definitely caught my eye,” said Phillips. “January is clearly one to watch.”
