At the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival, Marilyn Monroe‘s most memorable movie moment—her rousing rendition of “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend,” in the 1953 musical comedy Gentlemen Prefer Blondes—is being celebrated by Chopard.  The Swiss jeweler has created a diamond necklace in honor of the blonde bombshell’s object of affection in the film. The extravaganza captures the spirit of the bib the actress flaunted in her famous musical number, but it is far more dazzling, featuring almost 200 carats of diamonds. We’re sure Marilyn would approve—or better yet sing, “Square-cut or pear-shape, these rocks don’t lose their shape!”

Uma Thurman is the latest star to work a platinum wig and call herself Marilyn Monroe! The actress, who is now pregnant with her third child, channeled the infamous vixen for the NBC hit show Smash. In the series, Thurman guest stars as Rebecca Duvall, who producers cast as the blonde icon to add a celebrity element to their musical-in-the-making about Monroe’s life, Bombshell. Tune in to watch Thurman’s portrayal  tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

A lot of people tuned in to see Katharine McPhee’s Smash debut on NBC last night! Around 11.5 million viewers, actually, TVbytheNumbers reports. “What I love about the show is that it’s about dreams, and how no dream is too big,” said McPhee, who got her first taste of fame as a contestant on Season 5 of American Idol. In Smash, which co-stars Debra Messing, Angelica Huston, and Megan Hilty, she plays a struggling actress vying for the lead role in a musical about Marilyn Monroe’s life. Marilyn Monroe’s famous white dress from The Seven Year Itch sold at a Beverly Hills auction this weekend for a whopping $5.6 million! That’s almost three times the $2 million it was expected to fetch, CNN reports. It was the first in a series of auctions of actress Debbie Reynolds’ massive Hollywood memorabilia collection, and Reynolds was in tears when the gavel sounded after 20 minutes of bidding drama. The identity of the buyer hasn’t been revealed yet, although we do know that the mystery person bid over the phone. Tell us, what would you do with such an iconic dress?
