The NFL Kick-Off Concert: Mariah, Gwen, and Queen Latifah Sing!

We learned two things last night: Gwen Stefani is forever “Just A Girl,” and Mariah Carey remains a living, breathing “Fantasy.” The two divas belted their hearts out at Rockefeller Center as part of the NFL Kick-Off Concert leading up to the opening night game between the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys (where the Cowboys won 24-17!). Stefani brought back those infamous slouchy plaid pants (and rockin’ abs) from her 90s heyday as the lead singer of No Doubt (their new album comes out September 25), while MC brought down the house in a sparkling black minidress. Queen Latifah also made an appearance prior to the big game, where she sang the National Anthem. The ladies really ruled the field last night.

Watch Mariah Carey’s New Music Video for “Triumphant”

Mariah Carey’s video for her new single “Triumphant (Get ‘Em)” is out, and it has all of the ingredients of what makes her videos so quintessentially Mariah. Her wardrobe choices flaunt her long legs (short skirts and sequin minis) and her favorite colors (shades of champagne and honey, of course!). It also features famous hip hop cameos (Rick Ross in a mink coat and Meek Mill as the tough-guy boxer), a simple concept (the boxing ring), props (she’s the ring card girl!), awesomely emotional hand gestures (especially when she hits her high notes), and tons of glitter pouring down in a “triumphant” kind of way. The only thing that’s missing is a butterfly! If she had one of those fluttering around, we’d be in Mariah Music Video heaven. Watch the whole video above.

Mariah Carey has more good news to share! After inking a deal with American Idol and dropping her latest single, the singer will also launch a Mariah-inspired nail polish collection with OPI. ”OPI is thrilled to work with Mariah, an industry icon who loves nails and considers lacquer one of her favorite accessories,” said OPI executive Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. We’re thinking a collection filled with golds and platinums, just like her Grammys and hit records, but we’ll know for certain when the whole collection hits stores January 2013.

Mariah Carey released her new single today! Call it a stroke of expert timing, the first song off her fourteenth studio album is named “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” a message that resonates both with the current world Olympics (it’s the word for winners!) and her return to TV as American Idol judge (another victory). Listen to the song on Vevo and a clip of it below. The lyrics—“realize all things are possible, in your heart who’s the greatest, reach for the stars, be all that you are, and make ‘em all fall down”—will make you want to high five someone.

It’s official: Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are leaving American Idol! “I honestly feel like the time has come for me to doing the other things I do that I’ve kind of put on hold because I love Idol so much,” Lopez told Ryan Seacrest today on his radio show. And yesterday, Steven Tyler announced that he’s giving up his seat at the judges’ table to focus on recording Aerosmith’s upcoming album. “Idol was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it,” he said in a statement. “Now it’s time to bring rock back.” We’ll miss them both! The show now has two major spots to fill, and E reports that Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Fergie, and will.i.am are all being considered, while according to People, Mariah Carey is “in serious talks” for an American Idol gig.
