It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas—and the stars are busy prepping, playing, and posing with Santa (just peep at Heidi Klum’s shot with Mr. Claus himself!), along with a few holiday-staple characters, including snowmen and elves.
But if you were too busy doing some last-minute shopping to check out Instagram lately, no worries. We rounded up the best and most recent celebrity photos celebrating the holiday, guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit.
The countdown to Halloween has begun! Instead of digging up last year’s costume at the last minute (hey, it happens to the best of us), craft a creative and — most important — relevant getup that will not only delight other fright night revelers, but also showcase the breadth of your pop culture knowledge. We’ve gathered ideas inspired by this year’s movies, hit television shows, headline-making moments, and style icons — think Mariah Carey‘s bling sling, Olivia Pope’s white gladiator suit from Scandal, and Kate Middleton‘s memorable debut of Prince George — as a few ideas we’d love to see on the streets. Of course, we couldn’t help but sprinkle in a few fashion-focused costumes, too, singling out heavy-hitters like designer Karl Lagerfeld and photographer Bill Cunningham as muses. Click through to start shopping for 20 creative costumes that range from cleverly amusing to flat-out fashionable.
It’s hard to believe that Labor Day Weekend came and went—it’s even harder to believe that the holidays are just around the corner. There is no better way to ease into the holiday season than to blast Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” but this season, we’ll have little extra Mariah to the holidays via her OPI polishes. “Mariah Carey is truly synonymous with the holiday season,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI’s Executive Vice President and Artistic Direction—so she’s a natural fit to collaborate on an 18 piece limited-edition holiday collection of nail lacquers inspired by the holiday-loving vocalist. The collection consists of 12 crème polishes and 6 Liquid Sand™ lacquers, all in moody maroons, glitter-packed golds, and pearly whites. The Liquid Sand™ shades feature OPI’s leading-edge technology, which delivers enhanced shades that coats nails with a “textured, matte finish infused with a reflective sparkle.” If the chic colors don’t tempt you on their own, the color names might do the trick. Which polish will you paint on? I Snow You Love me, or In My Santa Suit? Click to see the collection.

The star-studded cast of The Butler headed to the famous Ziegfeld Theater in New York City to celebrate the film’s world premiere. With such A-list power, each of the attendees stood out on their own. Mariah Carey coordinated her sexy Tom Ford LBD with another one of her bling slings, this time opting for a leather studded variety, while Oprah Winfrey looked ultra-glam in a custom peach Theia cocktail dress featuring thousands of sequins in varying sizes and shapes, which she accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a full ‘do (though not quite as big as her 3.5 pound wig she wears for the cover of O, The Oprah Magazine). And Liev Schreiber, who plays President Lyndon B. Johnson, brought along the ultimate accessory—gorgeous wife Naomi Watts (in Thakoon). They all caught up inside the theater to watch the film, which stars Forest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, a White House butler who witnesses many political, social changes and presidents during the 20th century. The Butler opens Friday, August 16.

The show must go on! Despite injuring her shoulder while filming a music video last week, Mariah Carey was still able to deliver a showstopping performance with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the MLB All-Star Charity Concert in New York City’s Central Park. Of course, not any old cast would do for the diva — Mimi took the stage in three different slings, each one more glamorous than the last with rhinestones, feathers, and faux fur embellishments. It was just so Mariah. ”It was truly an honor to perform with the world renowned NY Philharmonic,” the singer wrote on her Instagram. “In spite of the pain, I wouldn’t ever have missed this moment.” We love how she took an unfortunate situation and turned it into a fashion statement, not to mention the great cause the show supported. Proceeds raised at the concert will benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy, and MLB made a $1 million donation toward relief efforts. The 2013 BET Awards were a big night for music, and an even bigger night for fashion! To kick off the stylish red carpet, the ever-adorable Quvenzhane Wallis paired her frilly printed dress with her trademark puppy purse, while Jordin Sparks, Nicki Minaj, and Gabrielle Union lined the venue in couture offerings. Mariah Carey and Justin Timberlake each took the stage later in the night to give stellar performances, and in preparation for the big event, Sparks went for a spontaneous color change. “I changed my hair last night — I literally dyed it last night with this color,” she told InStyle on her caramel highlights. “I really wanted a change and needed the carpet to push me to do it.” That’s the spirit!
