It’s Happening! Marc Jacobs Announces Release Date for His Beauty Line

May 8, 2013 @ 1:15 pm

The wait is almost over! Last April, Marc Jacobs announced that he was expanding his beauty empire with the addition of color cosmetics, and now, you can officially save the date for August 9. Jacobs broke the news with an Instagram shot of the line’s website, which features a clock counting down to the big day. Judging from the lacquers we previewed at Fashion Week, and Sofia Coppola’s Met Ball look using the makeup, the range is shaping up to be as big of a hit as the designer’s fragrance catalog. Head over to marcjacobsbeauty.com to add your email to the mailing list for updates, including news on any exclusive pre-sales.

A Mother’s Day Gift Idea Straight from Marc Jacobs

May 4, 2013 @ 12:00 pm

It’s hard to find a Marc Jacobs fragrance that we don’t like, and if your mom feels the same way, consider adding to her fragrance catalog with the designer’s new Daisy Eau So Fresh Sunshine scent. The perfume plays off of Jacobs’ iconic Daisy scent, but incorporates springy notes like strawberry, apple blossom, pink grapefruit, and jasmine petals. We’re obsessed with the brightly-colored flacon, and how the warm amber wood base becomes more noticeable once you spritz it onto your skin. Pick up a bottle for $78 at marcjacobs.com.

Inside the Party: Marc Jacobs and Emmy Rossum Host Brian Bowen Smith’s Book Launch

May 1, 2013 @ 9:10 am

At the release party for his book Projects at Hollywood’s legendary Chateau Marmont, photographer extraordinaire Brian Bowen Smith found himself on the opposite side of the camera, with stars (and subjects!) Miley Cyrus, Cindy Crawford, and Cat Deeley celebrating Smith’s latest accomplishment. After guests previewed the photographer’s most-iconic works on the old-school ViewMaster 3D toys stationed at each table, hosts Emmy Rossum and Marc Jacobs took to the stage to introduce the man of the hour. “I couldn’t believe in my whole life that I’d be in this moment,” Smith said in a speech. “It’s overwhelming, and if I could hug everyone, I would!” The sentiment was shared by Rossum. “The Chateau Marmont is kind of quintessential old Hollywood, and his pictures, a lot of them are black and white and they’re very classic,” she told us. “I think it kind of all fits.” We agree! Pick up the celebrity-filled Projects for $60 at artbook.com, and click the photo above to see more photos from the party.

These Are the Diet Coke Bottles Marc Jacobs Designed

Mar 12, 2013 @ 11:25 am

Diet Coke named Marc Jacobs as its creative director for 2013 (take that Pepsi/Beyonce!) and last night, he revealed his creative designs for the fizzy bottles and cans at a bash in London. The illustrations represent the drink’s 30th anniversary, which is why they feature graphic drawings inspired by the ’80s, ’90s, and ’00 decades. “Diet Coke is an icon… and I love an icon,” Jacobs said in a statement. Cute, right? Too bad we can’t snap ‘em up just yet—the products are only available in select European countries for now. (Good news if you planned a Eurotrip!)
