Red wine looks good in a glass, and on your nails! Cameron DiazRachel Zoe, and Mandy Moore all stepped out wearing the deep Bordeaux shade on their digits, and we can’t get enough of the statement-making color. If you want the same look, take note—dark hues like this one tend to stain nail beds, so swipe on a good base coat to create a barrier on your natural nails before lacquering up. Mandy Moore swiped glossy red on her pout for last night’s Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center benefit—a color she pulled from her own makeup pouch. “It’s my own lipstick by Tom Ford,” she told InStyle.com on her way into the event. “I’m normally pretty boring, but I’ve been into wearing a bold lip lately in my everyday life.” Well, she’s proving it’s fun to switch things up sometimes! The Year of the Redhead: Blake Lively, Drew Barrymore, Malin Akerman, and More Go Fiery

Apr 27, 2011 @ 10:15 am

We’re only four months into the year and 2011 is already shaping up to be the Year of the Redhead! A steady stream of celebrities are changing their signature locks for the bold color: Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively daringly switched her long wavy blond strands for a fiery shade, Drew Barrymore unified her two-tone hues in favor of cherry, Malin Akerman ditched her golden color for deep red, and California girl Whitney Port traded in her sunny locks for a lighter shade of strawberry. And that’s not all! Some stars had brief love affairs with red dye, like Khloe Kardashian and Jessica Stroup, while others returned to their roots, like Mandy Moore. See all of 2011′s new redheads in the gallery!

Mandy Moore: ‘I’d Be Terrified to Go on American Idol

Mar 16, 2011 @ 1:42 pm

While Mandy Moore performed at the Oscars this year, that doesn’t mean she’d want to sing on another highly-viewed television show. “I’d be terrified to go on American Idol,” the 26-year-old told us at a luncheon celebrating Kate Spade last week. She also told us that she doesn’t watch the hit show regularly, but will for special occasions. “I was an avid American Idol viewer a few seasons ago, but it’s hard to keep up. I watched the other night because one of the contestants covered one of my husband’s songs,” she said. The contestant was Alabama native Paul McDonald (inset), 26, who sang “Come Pick Me Up,” a tune by singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, Moore’s husband. “We wanted to watch that, and it was pretty neat to see.” So does a Ryan Adams cover mean she’ll be rooting for McDonald to win? “Sure, absolutely,” she confessed. “Why not?”

Oscars: Paltrow, Welch, and Moore’s Performance Style

The performances for the Best Original Song category at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards were just as stylish as the red carpet arrivals! Gwyneth Paltrow performed “Coming Home” from her film Country Strong wearing a Michael Kors one-shoulder jersey gown with crystal embroidery; Mandy Moore, who wore Monique Lhuillier on the red carpet, also wore the designer during her performance of “I See the Light” from Tangled with co-star Zachary Levi; and Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine wore a Roksanda Ilincic persimmon gown for her performance of “If I Rise” with A.R. Rahman, a part that was originally sung by Dido for the film 127 Hours. The category’s fourth and final nominee—Randy Newman (not shown) for “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3—took home the Oscar.
