First Look: Ruffian’s Collection for MAC!

Cult favorite New York clothing line Ruffian is known as much for their coveted fashion—Kirsten Dunst, Cate Blanchett, and Kate Moss are fans—as for the beauty looks born on their runway. Now that Ruffian Red is an established go-to crimson lip color, designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais are expanding to nails. They’ve collaborated with MAC to develop a collection of super-chic press-ons in varying takes on the signature Ruffian half-moon manicure. “Every season Claude and I start with the manicure idea and it really forms the collection,” Wolk told InStyle.com exclusively. “Ruffian is always about a story, about a movie, about a film. It’s cinematic.” The kits of 24 press-on nails are self-adhesive and will be available for a limited time on maccosmetics.com starting on June 18th. “There is something so Ruffian about the ephemeral, that it will last just for a moment,” said Wolk. MAC’s Most Popular Colors Ever, Served in Fresh New Sets

MAC‘s loyal lovers have something new to cheer for—the cosmetics company is launching a “Fashion Sets” makeup collection based on its best-selling colors of all time. The lineup is basically the beauty equivalent to a “Greatest Hits” album, and each of the seven color sets includes a lipstick, gloss, and nail polish. MAC to Bring Back Discontinued Products

If you’re mourning the loss of your favorite MAC lipstick, you’re in luck—starting today, you can vote for the discontinued products you want to see back in stores. Head over to MAC’s Facebook to pick from 18 of the most-requested lipsticks, glosses, and eye shadows from past collections. You can also ask your friends to vote for your favorite hue on Twitter by using the hashtag #macbyrequest. The top three fan picks from each category will be available this July on maccosmetics.com. Polls close March 30th, so cast your vote now.

Angelina Jolie‘s right leg made a splash at the 2012 Oscars, but we think her perfect red lipstick really stole the spotlight! That’s why we caught up with her makeup artist Toni Garavaglia to get the inside scoop on her look. “We wanted to balance Angelina’s makeup with her elegant Atelier Versace dress,” she told InStyle.com exclusively. “We decided that a red lip paired with a soft, clean smoky eye was the way to go.” Garavaglia lightly applied Jolie’s eye shadow, added a dash of liquid liner, then pulled the entire look together with a generous sweep of MAC’s Russian Red lipstick, a true cherry with blue undertones. MAC to Release Marilyn Monroe Collection

Marilyn Monroe is MAC makeup’s new muse! The cosmetics company is using the bombshell’s famous sultry cat eye, flawless nails, and crimson pout as inspiration for an upcoming lineup, which will include a range of eye shadows, nail lacquers, eyeliners, and lipsticks. The line will be priced from $15 to $27, and land in stores this October. Can’t wait until then? Makeup giant MAC enlisted pop stars Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin to create new lip products for its Viva Glam campaign—like Fergie and Lady Gaga did in the past—and the items just hit shelves today. Minaj appropriately released a bright Barbie pink ($14.50), while Martin created a clear lip balm ($15). All proceeds benefit the MAC AIDS Fund, which supports people living with HIV and AIDS. The cause hits close to home for Minaj, whose uncle passed away from an AIDS-related illness. “I have such a young fan base, and I want them to be aware of this issue now because I love them so much,” the rapper told Good Morning America.
