Carrie Underwood’s Makeup Artist Opens New Nashville Salon

Mar 2, 2012 @ 11:00 am

Melissa Schleicher, Carrie Underwood’s makeup artist and hairstylist, just celebrated the grand opening of her new Nashville salon and makeup boutique, Parlour 3. “Girls come here all the time with pictures of Carrie for their prom look,” Schleicher told InStyle.com. “I trained everyone to do hair and makeup just like I do on Carrie.” The sylist stocked her boutique with the beauty products she loves the most (and uses on Underwood) like Girlactik, Sorme, and Too Faced. Whether you’re looking for a blow-out, Shellac mani or just want expertly applied false lashes (Schleicher swears by the Smoke and Mirrors strips), this one-stop beauty outpost has it all. Call 615-942-9020 to make your appointment!

Fans of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, take note: H&M launched a pop-up shop in celebration of it’s Dragon Tattoo Collection!  The part retail, part coffee shop, part cyber cafe showcases the complete collection by the film’s stylist Trish Summerville. But there’s an interactive component as well: guests can watch extended film trailers while they shop, take pictures in a photo booth and even access all of the cameras in the pop-up shop (inspired by the computer hacking anti-heroine of the film, played by Rooney Mara). Check out the pop-up shop at 72 Gasevoort between Washington and Greenwich Streets in New York City, open from December 14th through December 16th from 12pm to 10pm daily.

Plus: Check out the complete Dragon Tattoo Collection for H&M in the gallery.

Nov 13, 2011 @ 2:00 pm

Jean Paul Gaultier’s first-ever exhibit, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, has just landed at the Dallas Museum of Art after a four-month stint in Montreal. The show features costumes worn by the French couturier’s most famous celebrity clientele—like Madonna‘s Blond Ambition tour corset and Dita Von Teese‘s bustier dress—along with pieces donned by Naomi Campbell, Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker. “Gaultier wanted his exhibition to reflect the energy of a catwalk show,” says Kevin W.Tucker,  the curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the DMA. And it does!

WHERE TO FIND IT: The Dallas Museum of Art is located at 1717 North Harwood in Dallas. Call 214-922-1200 or visit dm-art.org for tickets and info.
