The Next Step in Tracy Anderson Fitness: Opening a Blow-Dry Bar in Her Brentwood Studio With Celeb Stylist David Babaii

Mar 25, 2013 @ 4:45 pm

Celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson’s workout tricks are all about feeling beautiful from the inside-out, and now she’s adding a way for you to feel beautiful from the outside-in. The trainer to the stars—Gwyneth Paltrow among them—teamed up with celebrity stylist David Babaii to open a blow-dry bar exclusively at the Tracy Anderson Method location in Brentwood, California. “I am so excited and honored to join Tracy’s team as we both share the same devotion to women’s fitness, health, and beauty,” said Babaii, who lost over 100 pounds with the fitness guru’s help. The blow-dry bar will open April 4th for members only, and in addition to forming perfect post-exercise styles, the salon’s styling pros will offer long-lasting workout updos, red carpet coiffs, and everything in between. Blow-dry bars specialize purely in the art of a blowout, with DryBarBlowPro, and Rachel Zoe’s DreamDry among the many options. We’re hoping Babaii extends his venture to Anderson’s East Coast outposts next!

Want hair like a star? Just make an appointment at the brand-new Mèche Salon in Los Angeles, which opened its doors today! The location is run by a pair of true industry experts—colorist Tracey Cunningham, who works stars like Natalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Drew Barrymore, and hairstylist Neil Weisberg, who has styled Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger. “Neil and I have been friends forever and opening a salon seemed like a logical decision, so we went for it!” Cunningham said. “We came up with the name Mèche, which means highlight or lock of hair in French.” And although Cunningham and Weisberg are known for styling the strands of stars, their new venture isn’t just for their famous clientele. “This salon will have a very neighborhood feel,” Cunningham added. “We want clients to walk in and immediately feel comfortable and taken care of.” In addition to haircuts and coloring, the salon also offers manicures, pedicures, eyebrow shaping, and makeup application. Head over to mechesalonla.com for more information, or call 310-278-8930 to book an appointment.

Shoe lovers, the Brian Atwood New York flagship boutique is open for business! With its arched entryway (carved from a single piece of marble), custom satin seating and mirrored walls, 655 Madison Avenue is a shopper’s dream. “I wanted a closed environment, sort of like a Faberge egg—to give just a little hint of what’s inside from the outside,” he told Instyle.com as he gave us a tour of the Manhattan space. “Then when you come in you have a chic haven for women who love shoes and handbags to just come and go crazy.” The designer collaborated with decorator William Sofield of Studio Sofield on the luxurious interior. “There’s that balance of very Old Hollywood glamour with gorgeous sexiness,” said Atwood. Adding to the unique experience, all the shoes in the designer collection—including exclusive store styles—will have a 655 Madison Avenue metal plaque on the soles (left). We’re ready to run over in our stilettos, how about you?

The People Who Handcraft Hermes Are Coming to a City Near You

Sep 5, 2012 @ 8:30 pm

If you’re in New York, San Francisco, or Houston, put this on your To Do List: the Hermès Festival des Métiers. The luxury label is setting up shop in three cities and flying in its craftsmen to show the public how their silk scarves, diamond jewelry, painted crystal, and beyond are made—sometimes painstakingly—by hand. (Example: Each color in an Hermès scarf gets its own print, engraving, and screen.) This is the second year the luxury label pulled off this kind of event, and we hope it returns every year. There’s nothing like seeing something so luxurious being made right in front of you. The festival is in New York (583 Park Avenue) now through September 9th; San Francisco (Union Square Park) from September 20th to 24th, and Houston (1800 Post Oak Boulevard) from October 10th through 14th; visit hermes.com/festival-usa for more information.
