How to Change Your Look for Your New Hair Color: Tips from Reese Witherspoon’s Stylist

Apr 9, 2013 @ 4:45 pm

Reese Witherspoon‘s hair color from blonde to brunette is having a ripple effect—not only does it effect how she treats her hair daily, it also effects how she dresses, something her stylist Leslie Fremar confirmed today. “With Reese’s hair, she did this for a movie, she’s an actress and more of a chameleon than the average woman,” Fremar told InStyle.com this morning in New York at T.J. Maxx’s discussion on self-expression through fashion. “If it feels right to dye your hair a different color or cut it off, you will learn to dress in that mood of whatever made you do that in your life. You have to understand that and then kind of go with it,” she added, noting that she chooses different looks to flatter her clients’ hair hues. Her tip: “Sometimes with shorter hair, you need to wear a little bit more makeup,” she said. “Or, with darker hair, you might feel like your skin color changes, so you need to change the colors that you use.” Good to know!

If Charlize Theron‘s red carpet moment and opening dance number for the Oscars look like they went off without a hitch, it’s thanks to her behind-the-scenes magician, celebrity stylist Leslie Fremar. And magic it was: The stylist teamed up with The Coveteur for Oscars weekend to give a prepping play-by-play, from the fittings to the fixings. And she didn’t withhold any details—including the part about how the Dior dress custom designed for her dance number ripped while during rehearsals at 10:06 a.m., just hours before she had to take the stage. But it was all fixed before showtime! Click over to thecoveteur.com to get all the details on Leslie Fremar’s epic night of styling.

Reese Witherspoon’s Stylist on Dressing Baby Bumps: “Go Fitted”

Jun 25, 2012 @ 11:10 am

No baby bump can get in the way of Reese Witherspoon maintaining her signature girl-next-door style—her third child is almost here!—thanks to a little help from her stylist Leslie Fremar. So what’s the stylist’s secret to a successful maternity look? “As a rule of thumb, pregnant women should wear more fitted clothes,” Fremar told InStyle.com at the launch event for her latest Fruit of the Loom line of basics. “I think the inclination is to wear looser clothes, but it just makes you look bigger. Fitted clothes make you look smaller.” Most recently, she put Witherspoon in a Versace LBD and Vanessa Bruno V-neck shift. And her reasoning is understandable: “It’s not like people aren’t aware of the changing shape of your body,” she added. “Why hide it? Fitted clothes are most flattering.” Do you agree?

New in Stores: Charlize, Reese, and Scarlett’s Stylist Designs Basics

Jun 20, 2012 @ 5:00 pm

While celebrity stylist Leslie Fremar has an eye for dressing her clients—Charlize Theron, Scarlett Johansson, and Reese Witherspoon—in beautiful designer gowns, her expertise is also in something we all know, wear, and love: Basics. Last year, she teamed up with Fruit of the Loom to launch a capsule of tanks and tees, and it went so well, she came back this season for round two, complete with new silhouettes, colors, leggings, dresses, and more. “I saw a need in the market for these staple pieces—the pieces that I like to wear—and so I felt inspired to create them,” she told InStyle.com. And this isn’t another stylist-turned-designer story, that’s for sure. “I know a lot about clothes, fabrics, and fit, but I’m not a designer,” she said. “I just know what people need and they like, so I go from there.” How truewho doesn’t need more great basics? Shop the collection for $22 to $50, now at Bloomingdale’s.

What Charlize Theron’s Stylist Thinks of the Star’s New Buzz Cut

Jun 13, 2012 @ 2:15 pm

Celebrity stylist Leslie Fremar counts Charlize Theron among her many clients, so when the star debuted a shaved head for her Mad Max: Fury Road character this week, Fremar was a little surprised. “She sent me a picture, and I said, ‘Where the heck is all your hair?!’” Fremar told InStyle.com at the launch of her new super comfy basics collection for Fruit of the Loom at Bloomingdale’s in New York City (shop it starting at $22 at stores nationwide). “But Charlize takes her trade very seriously. She’s not afraid to put herself out there and transform into the character she’s playing. And let’s be honest, she’s so beautiful.” So, will Fremar take this bold hairstyle into consideration when styling future outfits? “Probably, I think so,” Fremar said. “She’s going to be going away for a long time for this movie she’s working on, so let’s see how long it is when she gets back, and then we’ll go from there.” Interesting—we can’t wait to see what she picks for Charlize next!
