No Doubt’s “Settle Down”: Gwen Stefani Looks Amazing (Seriously)

Jul 17, 2012 @ 11:20 am

She’s still got it! It’s been more than a decade since No Doubt put out an album, and with the release of the video for band’s first new single “Settle Down” (off their upcoming record Push and Shove, out September 25th), it looks like not one day has passed in the world of Gwen Stefani. The 42-year-old rocker still has her killer body, bleached blond hair, and signature red pouty lip (thanks to a very visible swipe of L’Oréal’s Infallible Le Gloss 8HR in Red Fatale, $10 at lorealparisusa.com). And about those intricate, colorful pants she’s wearing in the video? Custom L.A.M.B.! “Gwen said she wanted to use Indian fabric,” Paula Bradley, design director L.A.M.B., wrote on the label’s Facebook page. “So I went looking for all types of vintage Indian mirrored fabric, belts, anything I could find.” She continued: “When I first showed Gwen, she felt it was a little too “Hippy” and not No Doubt enough. So then came the checkerboard! The idea of the pants was fantastic, and making them was quite a journey.” Watch the entire video above, and then tell us what you think of Gwen’s latest look in the comments below.

Gwen Stefani’s Fall 2012 L.A.M.B. Collection: Our Favorite Looks!

Feb 12, 2012 @ 4:40 pm

While Gwen Stefani wasn’t in New York herself to reveal her latest lineup for L.A.M.B. at Fashion Week, the collection spoke for her—it was everything Gwen in a loud way. Neon yellows shot through retro punk looks, flirty mini skirts paired with boyish blazers, and digital prints covered her signature jumpsuits. The accessories—always big-sellers—included chunky platform heels and boots, bright bags, and cat-eye sunglasses. It’s obvious the SoCal rock star would wear every single one of these looks. But the bigger question is: Would you? See our favorite looks from the collection in the gallery!

Gwen Stefani Is InStyle’s November Cover Girl!

Gwen Stefani is InStyle’s November cover girl! In this issue, the rock star designer opens up about doing so much in so many arenas—fashion (she launches her third line Harajuku Mini for Target mid-November), music (a new No Doubt album is slated for next year), and family (“being a mother is probably the most challenging thing I do,” she says of parenting Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3, with husband Gavin Rossdale). What’s her secret? At work I’ve learned how to delegate. You don’t have to be on a ladder in a warehouse, micromanaging. You can be at home. And teamwork is also such a big part of marriage and parenting.” She also delves into another area of expertise—beauty. “My hair color is L’Oréal, but I won’t reveal the number,” says Stefani, a spokesperson for the brand. “And I do my roots as often as Marilyn Monroe did hers. I’m serious. I found out.” Though, she wasn’t always blond. “Right after we came home from the first No Doubt tour I felt like I might get recognized, so I colored my hair red. And I hated it.” As for her famous red lips? “The makeup goes on every day, even if I’m not going anywhere.” For more of our exclusive interview, pick up the November issue, on newsstands Friday, October 21st.

Apr 7, 2011 @ 10:40 am

American Idol‘s Top 9 contestants sung their hearts out during last night’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame songs episode! And while only three ladies remain (let’s go, girls!), they scored an awesome treat for the show—getting styled by Gwen Stefani! The No Doubt singer dressed the women in clothes from her L.A.M.B. collection, the show’s costume designer Soyon An said, while all the jewelry was by Noir. “The girls were very excited to meet Gwen,” An told InStyle. “They loved her and thought she was the sweetest.” Pia Toscano wore a printed jumpsuit, Haley Reinhart tried a gray plaid tunic over leather pants, and Lauren Alaina performed in a checked romper and tuxedo-style jacket. Runway Looks We Love: L.A.M.B.

Feb 18, 2011 @ 9:58 am

Gwen Stefani showed her fall collection for L.A.M.B. last night, and it was as eclectic and varied as her own style has been over the years. “I always draw from the same inspirations,” she told us backstage before the show. “I’m always going to be a bit of an English girl, a bit of an Orange County girl, a bit of a Jamaican rasta girl in my dreams.” The result: a mix of styles broken into six sections that each felt like their own show: Soldier Girls (military prints); Ragga Muffin Girls (rasta-inspired); London Girls (English prep style); Buffalo Girls (Navajo print knitwear); Mod Girls (’60s-inspired); and Glamour Girls (all-black pieces). For her finale walk, Stefani strutted in her own design to a remix of her song “What You Waiting For” as her son Kingston ran out to join her (her other son Zuma watched from the sidelines). ”Kingston is going to be so excited that I’m a snow leopard tonight because he’s super into animal prints,” she told us. “He’s obsessed!” Click through the gallery to see the entire L.A.M.B. fashion show.

Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B Show Closes New York Fashion Week

Punk rock princess-turned-designer Gwen Stefani wrapped up New York Fashion Week with a rocking runway show last night for her L.A.M.B. Spring 2011 collection. Before the show started, sons Kingston and Zuma, husband Gavin Rossdale and No Doubt bandmates Tony Kanal and Tom Duman hung out backstage with Stefani. Front row celebrities included Debbie Harry, Mel B (wearing a black L.A.M.B. catsuit), rap mogul Russell Simmons and fellow designer Christian Siriano. “I feel like a lot of people, me included, have been wearing a lot of black, white and gray, so we decided to go really colorful. [This collection] is kind of this dance-all African queen,” she told us. It’s fun to have all those prints and I think prints are definitely hard to do and do them good, but we really pulled it off with this collection.” We loved the eclectic mix of maxi skirts, harem pants, T-shirts and crop tops, all styled in Stefani’s signature style. But the moment that really stole the show? When a leather jacket-clad Kingston hopped up on stage during the finale to congratulate his mom.
