Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 star Krysten Ritter calls herself a “fashion head,” and she takes that passion to the set when she’s playing her character Chloe, a New York City girl who always causes trouble for her small-town roommate, June (Dreama Walker). “A lot of the staple pieces Chloe wears are mine,” Ritter told InStyle.com at Dior Beauty’s dinner celebrating Hollywood glamour. “She wears a handcuff necklace in every episode that is my personal necklace. It’s become my character’s staple piece and now I can’t wear it in real life because it’s tainted!” The fashion crossover came to be because Ritter works very closely with the show’s costume designer, Leah Katznelson. “She and I are pretty much best friends at this point,” Ritter told InStyle.com. “Two heads are better than one. I have a really clear vision of what I think my character should look like, so we just have a ball in picking stuff out together. She’s amazing and it’s the most fun I’ve had fashion-wise!”

We love Krysten Ritter‘s short bangs, but sporting a similar cut in the summer humidity often seems like a pipe dream. That’s why we caught up with the actress to find out the secret to her pitch-perfect style. “I came out of the womb with bangs! I’m like a professional,” the fringe veteran joked. “Even if you don’t blow-dry the rest of your hair, you have to blow-dry your bangs, and you need a really good brush. Every dress has a story, including the stretch navy dress with Swarovski crystals-studded shoulders that Krysten Ritter wore to DJ at Dentyne’s Split2Fit event last week. “It was custom-made for me,” the actress told InStyle.com. “It’s pretty amazing, and it’s like wearing Spanx!” The body-conscious design is by Chauncy Villeroy, a Los Angeles company so new it hasn’t even put out a collection yet. “We’re so happy that she loves it, it brightened our whole week,” said Alexandria Hardesty, the label’s senior designer. Hardesty first met Ritter as the wardrobe supervisor on Ritter’s film L!fe Happens, and reconnected at a chance meeting in Bed Bath & Beyond. “I was shopping with my mom and ran into her, and she told me she’d love to get a dress,” Hardesty said. She picked out this look for the star, which earned a spot in our coveted Look of the Day section.
