The CFDA and InStyle Host Dinner With Designer Tory Burch

Apr 15, 2011 @ 1:08 pm

Tory Burch was the woman of the hour when InStyle‘s Ariel Foxman and The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)  hosted the 2nd annual Dinner With a Designer event at the Los Angeles outpost of Soho House last night.  Kristin Davis, Hailee Steinfeld and Michelle Monaghan were among the guests who celebrated Burch’s success in the fashion industry and even revealed a few of the designer’s hidden talents. “I would take advice from her any day,” said longtime friend Davis. “And she’s such a great traveler. You’ve got to look at her blog.” Extracurricular activities aside, what’s next for the Tory Burch brand? “We’re talking about creating a fragrance and a collection for the home,” the designer told us. “I have three sons and three brothers, so I’m also definitely feeling the pressure to do a men’s line!”

Costume Designer Awards Red Carpet: Davis, Berry, More!

Feb 23, 2011 @ 11:01 am

Kristin Davis knows who to thank for her great wardrobe on the big screen—her costume designer. Davis was among many who honored the profession last night at the 13th Annual Costume Designer Awards in Beverly Hills. “I love costume designers—I’ve had more in-depth conversations with my costume designer about my character than I have with my director,” Davis (in Oscar de la Renta) told the crowd, which also included Demi Moore, Halle Berry and Claire Danes, as well as costume designers Lou Eyrich (Glee), Janie Bryant (Mad Men), Amy Westcott (Black Swan), Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland) and Julie Weiss (Secretariat). “Costumes truly make it possible for us to feel like a character. As soon as we put on the clothes, we know that we’ve done our job.” See more celebrities at the Costume Designer Awards the gallery.

Celebrity Get-Healthy Plans for 2011

Jan 3, 2011 @ 11:21 am

Beyonce, Jessica Szohr, Blake Lively and a host of other celebrities partied on New Year’s Eve at the opening of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and casino. And just before the clock struck midnight, we turned to the stylish crowd to find out if they had any plans for getting healthy in 2011. “It’s going to sound crazy, but traveling less,” Kristin Davis (wearing Prada) told us. “I get to go great places, but you don’t take that good of care of yourself when you’re always on the road. So I’m going to try to be home a little more.” Meanwhile, Brandy—wearing a Lipsy dress, which was styled by Taylor Jacobson—said she’s “cleansing.” “I’m going to really get back into being a vegan,” she said. “I’m going to put forth every effort I have to do that.” See more celebrities at the bash, and their get-healthy plans in the gallery.

Watch Kristin Davis Help Rescue a Baby Elephant

Oct 21, 2010 @ 11:20 am

Combine the ultra likable Kristin Davis with baby elephants in Kenya and you’ve got a video we could watch all day long. The big-hearted actress helped rescue an orphaned, emaciated elephant named Chaimu and nursed it as well as others back to health. “You do not want to get in the way of them and their milk,” the actress said. Read more about her adventure at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust on page 86 of our November issue and watch the video above for an up-close look. Moreover, make sure to check part two of the video after the jump for an update on how the elephant’s doing now. More
