Get Kristen Stewart’s Pretty Purple Manicure: The Exact Color She Wore to the Kids’ Choice Awards

Mar 25, 2013 @ 12:40 pm

Kristen Stewart chose a fun, printed ensemble by Osman for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this weekend, and her manicurist Ashlie Johnson played off of the deep tones of the look to inspire Stewart’s metallic eggplant nails. “Her outfit was this gorgeous purple-blue that looks different depending on the light and angle, just like the nail color,” said Johnson, who chose Chanel’s Le Vernis in Taboo ($27 at chanel.com), a gorgeous new violet shade that has a shimmer of red. And Johnson also offered a tip to prevent any manicure mishaps—like last-minute smudges. “Apply a thin layer of cuticle oil on top of the color,” advised Johnson, who has also painted the famous fingers of Naomi Watts and Rooney Mara. “If you bump one of your nails on the way out, it won’t dent the polish.” Great tip!

Kristen Stewart’s Makeup Artist On The Star’s Signature Look!

Jan 17, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

Kristen Stewart’s red carpet hair and makeup always appears completely effortless, but it seems the star gives quite a bit of input for her own look. “Kristen will never beg me to do a red lip,” says her makeup artist Jillian Dempsey, who usually paints rosy lips and smoky eyes on the actress. “Her skin is porcelain—a dream. She doesn’t like to conceal her freckles, so we do a very sheer application of makeup.” And even at the end of the night, it’s Stewart’s amazing skin that keeps her looking fresh. “She’d be the perfect face for a campaign for second-day makeup,” says Dempsey. “When hers wears off, she still looks insanely gorgeous. To see Kristen’s complete beauty transformation, flip to page 182 of InStyle’s February issue. On the go? Download the issue on your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet!

Open Today: On The Road With Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, More

Dec 21, 2012 @ 1:15 pm
On The RoadCourtesy

On The Road hits theaters nationwide today! The movie, which is a film adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s classic autobiographical coming-of-age novel, stars Kristen Stewart, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Adams, and Garrett Hedlund as a gang of wandering souls who hit the road on a journey to find themselves. Sam Riley plays the Kerouac character, Sal Paradise. “We’re all such a tight-knit family because everybody was so passionate about the book,” Hedlund told InStyle.com at the Toronto International Film Festival. The ladies of the film had another way to bond—through the Danny Glicker-designed wardrobe on set, even those parts that remain unseen. “He is so caring and specific about details,” Stewart said. “Even with an article of clothing like an undergarment, he’s like ‘Do you feel pretty?’ Do you like it?’ He fuses you into it and allows you to feel a little responsible, involved.” Dunst enchoed that sentiment: “We had high-waisted underwear and bras with a pointed shape—you can tell because of the way your breasts look in the shirts is a more pointed silhouette.” Click here to see where the film is playing near you.

Found It! Kristen Stewart’s Petal Pink Lip Color

Dec 17, 2012 @ 12:23 pm

While all eyes were on Kristen Stewart’s sheer Erdem look at the New York City premiere of On the Road, we also took notice of her sheer petal lipstick. “I wanted to create a sexy cat eye that was a bit ’60s, and modernize it with a soft pink lip,” said her makeup artist Beau Nelson, who used a combo of the Chanel Lip Definer in Pink Sugar and Rouge Coco Sheer Lipshine in Parfait for the star’s lips, which drew upon the neon pink hints in her dress without being overpowering. Nelson traced Stewart’s lips with the pencil, then carefully blended the color and layered the airy pink balm on top. “I patted the product in with my finger to make sure it looked lived-in,” he added. Pick up the lip pencil for $30 and the balm for $33 at chanel.com.
