Try It Now: Red Nail Polish With a Blue Dress

What’s a good nail polish color to go with a blue dress? Take a cue from Kristen Stewart’s Kid’s Choice Awards look and try bright red. “I wanted to play off of the blue in her dress with a bright lacquer,” her manicurist Ashlie Johnson said of the Twilight star’s color choice, Chanel’s Rouge Carat ($26 at chanel.com). When using bold colors like this, Johnson recommends sealing the free edge of the nail with a horizontal swipe of polish. “This helps the color stay on longer and gives off a more finished appearance,” she said.

Celebrities put it in neutral this weekend at the the 25th annual Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles, and we rounded up some of the show’s best styles—pre-slime, of course! Heidi Klum posed for photos in an off-white long-sleeved minidress and gray thigh-high boots, both by Roland Mouret, Selena Gomez brought some sparkle to the orange carpet in a blush crop top and matching embellished skirt from Dolce and Gabbana, Taylor Swift accepted Nickelodeon’s Big Help Award (from presenter Michelle Obama!) in an ivory chiffon Maria Lucia Hohan halter-neck dress, and Emma Stone went minimal in Antonio Berardi‘s cream scalloped hem design. Katy Perry Talks Wedding, Gets Slimed

When Katy Perry opened the box to reveal the Favorite Movie Actress Award at Saturday night’s Kids’ Choice Awards (Miley Cyrus took home the title) she was caught with a signature Nickelodeon surprise—a dose of bright green slime! Before her unfortunate sliming, the bride-to-be, in a blue wig and ultra minidress dress by the Blonds, was all smiles on the red carpet dishing about her upcoming nuptials to comedian Russell Brand. “I’m preparing a little bit here and there. I have to stop eating McDonalds and start my dance classes,” the singer told us. “[Russell] likes to buy those bride magazines. He’s a bridezilla! He wants everything to be monogrammed. I’m like, ‘You plan the wedding!’” While she hasn’t picked out a gown yet, she did tell us what designer she leaning towards: “Well, the Blonds did my dress today and I love them.” Watch Katy Perry get slimed after the jump!
