Kaufmanfranco’s Secret Runway Dress: Headed to the Oscars?

They’ve dressed red-carpet stars like Taylor Swift and Julianne Hough, but Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco of Kaufmanfranco had never seen their clothes on a runway—until Monday! The designing duo had their first runway show ever at Lincoln Center, with Ashley Greene and Jane Krakowski sitting in the front row, and it went off without a hitch—except for the fact that one ruffled black dress popped up in the finale without ever walking in the show. “Yep, one of the dresses didn’t end up on the runway! And the two girls in brown who came out weren’t supposed to,” Franco laughed backstage, where we met him and Kaufman after the show. So, could the secret dress be headed a big Hollywood event later this month? “Maybe!” both boys coyly replied, with Kaufman adding, “We have a couple of hidden dresses at home! We always like keeping a little something behind.” There’s only one way to find out if the dress makes it to the Oscars: Tune in to the Academy Awards on February 24th—we’ll be watching with you!

Derek Hough on Sister Julianne’s ’80s Style

Jun 11, 2012 @ 5:35 pm

As a Dancing With the Stars pro, Derek Hough knows enough about over-the-top outfits to know a good color can make an outfit pop! That’s why we asked him what he thought of the neon one-shoulder Kaufmanfranco gown his sister Julianne Hough wore to the Rock of Ages premiere on Friday. “I love the choice!” he told InStyle.com. “It’s good. It’s an homage to the ‘80s with that lime electric green.” What a nice brother! Rock of Ages premieres Friday, June 15th. Why Halle Berry Chooses Sexy Outfits: Her Answer Here

Halle Berry always manages to turn heads on the red carpet, and it always seems so effortless. How does she do it? “When I think about how I want to be, I like to be less is more,” the Oscar-winning actress told InStyle.com at the launch of Revlon’s new soufflé-like ColorStay Whipped Crème foundation in New York recently. “I try to be more simple and not let the clothes wear me but me wear the clothes.” In addition, comfort is key. “I generally want to feel comfortable,” she said. “No bells and whistles. Try to find a simple way. That’s what I try to achieve!” Judging from her most memorable “less-is-more” looks—from left, Kaufmanfranco at a 2009 event, Nina Ricci at the 2011 Golden Globes, Halston at the 2011 FiFi Awards, and Elie Saab at 2002 Oscars—it’s mission accomplished!

Jennifer Aniston’s Shortened KaufmanFranco Dress

Oct 18, 2011 @ 5:55 pm

Here’s a little inside fashion scoop: Jennifer Aniston’s sexy metallic mini wasn’t always mini! KaufmanFranco, the label behind the look, originally produced the deep-V neck column with linear sequin paillettes as a long gown for their fall 2011 collection. So, how did it end up short? Not by Aniston’s hands. Turns out, designers Ken Kaufman and Isaac Franco created a shorter version of the dress exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue stores, and that’s what ended up on the actress at the Elle Women in Hollywood celebration last night. And the designers enjoy seeing their creations land on the red carpet. “What makes a dress stand out is the woman who’s wearing it,” Franco told InStyle.com recently. Tell us: What do you think of the look?

Plus, do you prefer Jennifer as a blond or brunet? See the photos and decide.

Wear White After Labor Day

Aug 24, 2010 @ 10:33 am

The following is a guest post from one of our favorite online shopping destinations, Decadestwo.

Labor Day is less than two weeks away and that means there’s only 12 days left to wear white—or so the saying goes. Being true fashion rebels, we like to wear white year round. Pure, fresh and light, white is flattering on a variety of skin tones—especially when you’ve been soaking up a little sun all summer long. We love this white knit jersey Louis Vuitton party dress (size 38, $775), with its delicate floral embroidery and silk panels, it’s as comfy as your favorite T-shirt. A sexy white top, like this Kaufman Franco tank (size 6, $660), is a great to-go for any soiree. And we can always count on Fendi to provide perfectly understated glamour like this sequined cropped jacket (size 40, $500).
