The Grammys has a history of making a splash on the red carpet (see the craziest Grammys gowns ever, if you don’t believe us), and this year’s was no exception. Certainly, the looks weren’t as risque as those of Grammys past, but there wasn’t a shortage of statement-making metallics, floor-sweeping gowns and high-wattage jewels either. So enough of the pleasantries and let’s get to the good stuff. Lo and behold, here are our top 10 favorite looks from the 56th Annual Grammy Awards:
Talk about a work of art. We did a double take when we spotted Katy Perry at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night arriving in a wispy Valentino Couture gown adorned with music notes (quite the perfectly brilliant choice for music’s biggest night, no?).
Why were we having dress déjà vu? Because we first spied this dress on the runway at the Valentino Spring 2014 Couture show just months prior. We’re loving Perry’s thematic look, complimented with a bold, twisted bun (another hot trend of the night).
This Sunday’s Grammy Awards are sure to dazzle, but it’s hard to believe the 2013 red carpet could be outdone. Last year, the stars were shining bright like diamonds—literally!
From Alicia Keys’ slithering snake-pendant earrings of black agate and diamonds to Jennifer Lopez’s nearly $1-million worth of megawatt gems, it seemed like the bigger, the better when it came to Grammy jewels. Rihanna iced her sexy red silk custom-made Azzedine Alaïa gown with glittering Neil Lane diamonds. “We were deep in pre-production on her Diamonds World Tour,” says stylist Mel Ottenberg. “So styling RiRi’s look was nuts!”
Katy Perry, on the other end of the spectrum, embraced her Priscilla Presley inspiration with a vintage style 14kt gold Adeler ring set with an oval chalcedony. “There was so much embellishment around the neck of her mint green Gucci with its sexy keyhole cutout,” explains Perry’s stylist Johnny Wujek. “The ring was the perfect touch of gemstone to tie into the whole look. Plus, the mood-ring style of the design matched the 1960s vibe.”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas—and the stars are busy prepping, playing, and posing with Santa (just peep at Heidi Klum’s shot with Mr. Claus himself!), along with a few holiday-staple characters, including snowmen and elves.
But if you were too busy doing some last-minute shopping to check out Instagram lately, no worries. We rounded up the best and most recent celebrity photos celebrating the holiday, guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit.
With 16 performances throughout the three-hour broadcast, there was a lot to dance along to at last night’s American Music Awards, so we rounded up our favorite performances and onstage moments. Lady Gaga and R. Kelly performed a steamy duet of Gaga’s new single “Do What U Want,” Katy Perry belted out “Unconditionally” rocking a peach kimono and offered a visual feast of colors onstage, and Jennifer Lopez paid tribute to salsa legend Celia Cruz in an exciting performance featuring acrobatic dancers and multiple outfit changes. We weren’t the only ones amazed by the night’s performers, either. “I thought there were so many amazing performances tonight, like the Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World performance,” Taylor Swift, who won Artist of the Year, told InStyle.com. “I felt really lucky to be in the audience tonight and be dancing to all of it.”

Happy 29th birthday, Katy Perry! While many celebrities opt to take it easy on their special day, the show went on for Perry, who took the Good Morning America stage this morning to give students at Lakewood High School in Colorado a high-octane performance. But long before the singer roared her way into the hearts of fans everywhere, she was a high school student herself, and was almost unrecognizable with her chin-skimming blonde bob. Her style is still ever-changing — she shed her candy-colored hairstyles and avant-garde costumes for a more polished appearance just this year — and Perry continues to find inspiration everywhere for her next look. ”Comic books, Blade Runner, Lolita—so many inspirations come into play when I’m doing my hair and makeup,” she told InStyle previously. “Every morning I think, Who am I going to be today?” To celebrate Katy’s 29th birthday, we’re taking a look back at her most-iconic hair and makeup choices, starting with her high school years to today. Check out her transformation in our gallery!
Katy Perry has joined the ranks of easy, breezy, beautiful CoverGirls everywhere as the brand’s celebrity spokesperson! This morning, the star announced her new role via Twitter, posting a shot from her gorgeous campaign, where she showcased CoverGirl’s berry-wine lipstick in Euphoria ($8; drugstore.com). “In addition to music, I’ve always considered makeup to be a powerful creative avenue of self-expression,” she said in a release. “I’m honored to partner with CoverGirl and share more colors and textures of my approach to beauty to inspire my audience.” We have long admired Perry’s penchant for trendy makeup looks, and she’s in good company — Taylor Swift, Sofia Vergara, Ellen DeGeneres, and Queen Latifah are also among the beauty giant’s celebrity ambassadors. Stay tuned for Katy’s full campaign, rolling out in the spring of next year!
