An outfit so nice, the Duchess of Cambridge wore it twice! Looking good while doing good is certainly a trend for Kate, and her latest outfit is no exception. Yesterday she stepped out with Prince William in a patterned Orla Kiely coat-dress to visit the London offices of Only Connect (left), a crime prevention charity and positive community helping prisoners, ex-offenders and those at risk of getting into trouble to rebuild their lives. But this wasn’t the first time the coat has made a royal appearance. In February 2012, Kate wore the exact same ensemble when she visited a school in a disadvantaged area of Oxford to support the Art Room (right), an organization that teaches kids self-esteem and confidence through art. The Duchess paired her bird-printed outerwear with brown tights, Aquatalia ankle boots and an Emmy clutch for each occasion — the only difference between the two looks is her now slightly lighter locks! “I thought she looked really well,” designer Orla Kiely previously told InStyle of Kate’s first time wearing the coat-dress. “It was out of the blue! It’s all quite nice, and now we’re crossing the generations which I think is a lovely thing.” Repeat or not, we’re loving Kate in this perfect fall look!

Photo of the Day: The Royal Family Beams with Pride In the Official Picture of Prince George’s ChristeningOct 25, 2013 @ 4:53 pm
Following the christening of His Royal Highness Prince George at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace, members of Duchess Kate‘s family gathered with the Royal family at Clarence House to shoot the official photographs commemorating the event. Both families looked nothing short of regal (as always!), and the photograph also holds historical significance — this is the first time in 120 years that a sitting monarch has been pictured with three direct heirs. The last time such an occasion took place was in 1894, when Queen Victoria was photographed with George V, Edward VII, and Edward VIII. Talk about a Kodak moment! Appropriately, 3 month-old Prince George was dressed in a replica of the satin and lace christening gown made for Queen Victoria’s daughter in 1841, almost outshining Kate Middleton’s gorgeous Alexander McQueen suit. We love it, and we think another congratulations is in order!

It’s His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge‘s big day! The young prince celebrated his christening at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace wearing a handmade replica of the royal christening robe designed by the Queen’s dressmaker, Angela Kelly, according to the British Monarchy. But not all eyes were solely on the Royal Baby — new mom Catherine also stole the show with her cream ruffled Alexander McQueen suit paired with a rose-adorned Jane Taylor fascinator and her signature nude L.K. Bennett pumps. Prince George and Kate were joined by Prince William, both sets of grandparents, along with his aunt Pippa Middleton and uncles Prince Harry and James Middleton. This is baby George’s first public appearance since we were first introduced to the little bundle of joy back in July and comes just hours after the announcement of his seven godparents, who were also in attendance for the occasion. Congratulations to the little prince and his parents!

Thanks to Dennis Basso’s latest bridal collection for giant bridal emporium Kleinfeld, narrowing down the dress of your dreams just got even more difficult. For his spring/summer 2014 ready-to-wear line, Basso turned to Old Hollywood goddesses, including the likes of Ava Gardner, Jane Russell, Rita Hayworth and Lana Turner, for inspiration. Basso approached his spring 2014 bridal line the same way. “I thought, what would all of those great women have worn if they had gotten married in today’s world? I focused on that interpreted into modern dressing with the idea of Hollywood glamour,” the designer told InStyle.com. “There’s a little something for everyone—tight sexiness, ball gown princess, sophisticated allure.” Even though his focus was on the past, Basso still had a finger on the pulse of what brides are demanding now. “Sleeves and lace are very big,” he said, calling out Kate Middleton for setting the trend. “She showed that you can still be sexy but still be covered—it’s a nice look.” We agree! The countdown to Halloween has begun! Instead of digging up last year’s costume at the last minute (hey, it happens to the best of us), craft a creative and — most important — relevant getup that will not only delight other fright night revelers, but also showcase the breadth of your pop culture knowledge. We’ve gathered ideas inspired by this year’s movies, hit television shows, headline-making moments, and style icons — think Mariah Carey‘s bling sling, Olivia Pope’s white gladiator suit from Scandal, and Kate Middleton‘s memorable debut of Prince George — as a few ideas we’d love to see on the streets. Of course, we couldn’t help but sprinkle in a few fashion-focused costumes, too, singling out heavy-hitters like designer Karl Lagerfeld and photographer Bill Cunningham as muses.
