Kate Bosworth’s Stylist Cher Coulter: ‘Don’t Be a Wallflower!’

Dec 29, 2012 @ 2:00 pm

It can be a daunting task to find the perfect outfit for New Year’s Eve, which is why we turned to celebrity stylist Cher Coulter for advice. “The holiday season is no time to be a wallflower,” said the stylist, who works with Kate Bosworth and Elizabeth Olsen. “If your dress, jewelry, and shoes are standout, keep the hair sleek and the make up pretty and not too heavy.” For those who prefer to tone it down, she suggests striking a different balance. “If you decide on more understated holiday attire, then make a statement with a strong red lip and maybe a more interesting blowout or up-do.” Her bottom line: Don’t be afraid to mix it up!

Holiday Look We Love: Sequins Like the Stars

Dec 17, 2012 @ 4:45 pm

Our pick for an on-trend look that is perfect for this season’s festivities? Sequins! Take a cue from style setters like Diane Kruger (in Chanel), Hailee Steinfeld (in Erin by Erin Fetherston), Kate Bosworth (in Stella McCartney), and Jamie Chung (in Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet), by choosing a sparkly strapless or nipped waist version. The key to such luster: Pairing the look with simple accessories keeps eyes on the dress and anchors all of that shine. Kate Bosworth Sings in Topshop’s Holiday Video

Dec 4, 2012 @ 5:23 pm

After teasing the video for several days on their YouTube account, Topshop has finally revealed #whosthatgirl, the mystery star of their first-ever Christmas film: Kate Bosworth! The short film, directed by Michael Polish (Kate’s man) and inspired by Michelle Pffeifer’s famous piano scene in The Fabulous Baker Boys, has Bosworth in a very festive red party dress, singing the iconic holiday song “Winter Wonderland,” to a room full of awe-struck onlookers. “This project brings together two important aspects of my life: cinema and fashion,” Bosworth said in a statement. “I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we did making it!” The dress and shoes Kate wears in the video will be available as a special made-to-order on topshop.com to coincide with the new Topshop store opening in Los Angeles next February. And you can download Kate’s song on itunes.com now. Watch the clip above for a dose of holiday spirit, and scroll down for the star’s special message to InStyle readers.

Kate Bosworth Painted Her Hair for an Upcoming Movie

Nov 29, 2012 @ 3:47 pm

The change is subtle, but it’s there: Kate Bosworth’s hair has a new ombre effect. We noticed the star’s deeper blond roots at the Target and Neiman Marcus collaboration launch party in New York City last night, and it turns out, the change was a result of her role in the upcoming film Homefront. “I kept it pretty laid-back for this last role,” she told InStyle.com. “They added paint and darker roots to my hair, so this is my natural color at the top that was painted a little darker.” We’ve heard of balayage, where dye is painted directly onto the hair shaft to create a natural fade, but to play a such gritty part, Bosworth’s version tipped more toward arts and crafts than salon couture. “It’s literal paint. They’ll take alcohol and use it with the paint, and it stays on,” she added. Now that’s commitment to character!

Dark Lips We Love: Julianne Hough, Kate Bosworth and More!

Oct 18, 2012 @ 12:58 pm

Jennie Garth received the Artistic Excellence Award at last night’s Inner-City Arts 2012 Imagine Awards wearing a David Meister Signature dress and wine-stained lips. The deep, dark makeup is one of the biggest lipstick trends we’ve seen this fall, with Kate Bosworth, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Julianne Hough also trying the look. “Anyone can wear a deep shade as long as the skin stays simple and clean with a rosy cheek,” said celebrity makeup artist Molly Stern, who created Hough’s hue. “Fresh skin is key, otherwise you will start to look goth.” So, would you try it?
