Rachel Zoe Seeks Karl Lagerfeld’s Approval

Rachel Zoe is powering ahead with her own line, and with growth, she’s gaining a lot more fans. “I have had incredible friends tell me that they love it,” the celebrity-stylist-turned-designer told InStyle.com at the celebration for Amanda de Cadenet’s The Conversation show this week. “Designers, that they love it. And that’s the highest compliment I can get.” But there is one person she dreams about giving her feedback: “If Karl Lagerfeld comes up to me and tells me that he loves my clothes then I will just quit at that point,” she said. “Because that’s it! Do you know what I mean? I mean, that’s it!” Well, here’s to hoping!

The celebrated designer just launched his own lower-price line named KARL, available exclusively on net-a-porter.com starting today. “I do it with my instinct—being myself is not that difficult,” Lagerfeld said of his inspiration for the collection, which includes clear references to his signature look, like fingerless leather gloves, biker vests, collars, and black bow-ties on white blouses for $95 to $450. Chanel‘s Karl Lagerfeld provided guests with a feast for the eyes and for the tastebuds during the luxe label’s Paris-Bombay Métiers d’Art show in the City of Light yesterday. Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais into an extravagant dinner party for the annual presentation, which pays tribute to the artisans and craftsmen behind the opulent designs. Models strode past the food-laden banquet tables in ensembles that blended classic Chanel touches like pearls and tweed with Indian-inspired textiles, embroidery and bejeweled accessories. “People have always responded to difficulty by dressing up in jewels,” Lagerfeld told The Telegraph when asked about his latest couture collection. “Fantasy is better than reality.” Watch the entire show above and click through the gallery to see Freida Pinto, Lady Gaga and more stars who love Chanel.

Karl Lagerfeld to Launch New Lower-Price Line!

Soon you won’t have to save up for Chanel or Fendi to get a piece created by Karl Lagerfeld. Following the successful launch of his capsule collection for Macy’s, in which every piece cost under $170, the designer announced he’s launching his own lower-price line named Karl. ”I just want not too expensive clothes that people may like and want to wear,” he told WWD. The collection will include accessories, denim, leather, vests, cocktail dresses, and more for $95 to $450, and will launch exclusively on January 25th at net-a-porter.com (click here to sign up for updates). The German designer is teaming up with Macy’s on a capsule collection called Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse, and the line will be full of tweeds, tuxedo silhouettes, leggings and graphic tees. Prices on the Lagerfeld-designed pieces will run from $50 to $170, with most hitting the $100 mark, and the collection will be available in 235 Macy’s stores and Macys.com. Charlene Wittstock became Her Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco when she married Prince Albert II of Monaco this weekend. (The last woman to hold that title was the Prince’s mother, Grace Kelly!) The new princess wore three beautiful looks over the course of two days: She chose a pale blue Karl Lagerfeld suit for her civil ceremony on Friday, and she wore a custom Giorgio Armani Privé off-the-shoulder gown with a long off-white tulle veil for her Saturday religious ceremony. She finished her bridal fashion show by changing into a tiered Giorgio Armani Privé white gown for the gala dinner.
