TIFF 2012: InStyle Toasts to the Cast of What Maisie Knew

InStyle hosted the cast of What Maisie Knew for a private dinner to celebrate their new film its official premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. While Julianne Moore and Alexander Skarsgard (in Gucci) brought the star power to the Windsor Arms Hotel where the dinner was held, it was the 7-year-old actress who plays Maisie, Onata Aprile, who stole the spotlight. “She has this raw quality,” Skarsgard said of his pint-size co-star. “She has this emotion, this energy that was just there. I fell in love in like two seconds, and then I was gone—so in love with her.” And like her character, Aprile knows: Both Skarsgard and Moore scooped her into their arms after reuniting for the first time at the dinner. It was adorable overload!

Hot Pink Lipstick Works at Any Age

Bold lipstick is definitely having a moment, but punchy hues aren’t restricted just to the younger crowd. Julianne Moore recently wore a bright pink lip, and we loved how the 51-year-old actress made the high-octane shade more age-appropriate by pairing it with a neutral eye. The secret to this look, according to the star’s makeup artist Pati Dubroff, is lining lips with a cool rose shade—not a matching bright pencil—before applying lipstick. “A cool pink would be best, as it blends with the lip color, but can be used with other shades as well,” Dubroff told InStyle.com. After experimenting with a clip-on version almost a year ago, Taylor Swift became the latest celebrity to adopt one of the hottest haircuts right now—long, airy bangs! This morning she Tweeted the photo above, and joined the ranks of recent bang-adoptors Rachel Weisz, Julianne Moore and Leighton Meester.
