Don Draper returns to TV this Sunday! It’s hard to ignore the sexiness of the Mad Men character, played by the handsome Jon Hamm. What’s his secret? “Comb your hair, tuck your shirt in, that kind of stuff,” Hamm joked to InStyle.com at the fifth season premiere party in Los Angeles. He went on to describe his style as “unfortunate,” which is one reason why he is constantly surprised by people’s reactions to his appearance. “I think it’s 100% because of the show,” he said. “I think you probably seen pictures of me walking my dog in my neighborhood that for some reason people think are fun to publish, but I don’t look like this every day and I don’t try to look like this every day.  But when I’m supposed to be dressed up of course I try.” And he sure does look good in a suit, don’t you think? Catch more Hamm/Draper action on the return of Mad Men, premiering Sunday at 9/8c on AMC.

Mad Men Goes Mod in Season 4

Get ready for another fashion flashback! On Season 4 of Mad Men, the wardrobes of our favorite retro characters will reflect the influence of the mod fashion movement that defined 1964. But don’t expect to see Betty in a miniskirt or Joan shedding her foundation garments. “It’s like anybody’s life, you add pieces to your closet but you’re not changing your whole style with every trend,” says the show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant. While Peggy’s clothes represent her independence and Betty’s new life brings with it a Jackie O-inspired silhouette, Don’s personal and professional struggles are mirrored through a darker color palette and Joan proves that she knows how to accentuate her positive assets no matter what changes in the world of fashion. Click through our gallery for a sneak peek of what they’ll be wearing on Season 4 of Mad Men, premiering July 25 on AMC.

Oprah Gets a “Mad Men” Makeover

Sep 17, 2009 @ 1:00 pm

If anyone has the power to step into a TV series—it’s Oprah Winfrey. The talk-show titan is taking a trip back in time—and into Mad Men—on a special ’60s-themed episode of her show. She enlisted series costume designer Janie Bryant to design a custom curve-clinging dress a la Joan Holloway (as played by Christina Hendricks, right). The result, a red satin number with a brooch closure, is worthy of a night out on the town with Don and Betty Draper. Let’s hope Winfrey invited January Jones and Jon Hamm (left) out for a cocktail after their visit to her retro set—even the Queen of Talk shouldn’t let such a wonderful beehive ‘do go to waste.

“The Oprah Winfrey Show: Oprah Goes Back in Time—The ’60s” airs on September 21st. Check your local listings for times.
