Spring starts tomorrow, and before you run into the sunshine, Jennifer Garner has a tip for you: Wear sunscreen. The actress makes sure she protects her entire family—including her three children with husband Ben Affleck—with a healthy dose every morning. “Sun care is such a big part of my family’s routine that if I’m not home, [my kids] will remind their dad to make sure they have it on,” Garner told InStyle.com at the Neutrogena Sun Summit in New York. “Sometimes they’re, like, ‘Mom!‘—and I don’t know any kid who isn’t—but you make it as fast and painless as possible.” And to do that, she recommends using spray-on sunscreen. “They’re fast easy, and they really do have great coverage, so we have those sprays everywhere. I have one in my purse, in my car, near the door before walking out, in the bedroom—everywhere!” For an easy-to-use spray sunscreen, try Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Body Mist ($8.49 at neutrogena.com) or Coppertone Sport Continuous Spray Ultra Sweatproof ($8 at walmart.com). It’s been good to be Ben Affleck! Fresh off his Best Picture Oscar for Argo, the director who swept the 2013 awards season is celebrating his win with some much-deserved R&R. “I’ve been able to just really enjoy my good fortune the last couple of weeks, to sit back and kind of take it all in and not do anything,” said Affleck at John Varvatos’ annual benefit for Stuart House, an event co-chaired by his wife, Jennifer Garner. And since he can skip the designer suits, he’s been enjoying sweet snacks. “I’m eating ice cream on the couch! It’s been a really nice time to hang out with my wife. We’re enjoying it.” A good family and a philanthropic heart—we bet that feels good!

This Week’s Parties: Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck, and Naomi Watts at John Varvatos’s 10th Annual Stuart House BenefitMar 11, 2013 @ 3:00 pm
It was an Oscar couples reunion at John Varvatos’s 10th Annual Benefit this weekend, where Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Ben Affleck, and Jennifer Garner were all on-hand to support Stuart House, a treatment center for children who have suffered sexual abuse. Garner began her involvement with the cause eight years ago, and now she and her husband are co-chairs of the benefit. “She told me about what she saw at Stuart House and what the children had to go through after being subjected to these kinds of assaults, and how important it was to have people there who were caring and thoughtful and going to do this the right way,” explained Affleck at the benefit, held at Varvatos’ boutique in West Hollywood. The event featured a live auction to support the House, as well as a performance by Aerosmith. “You just see the outpouring of people that want to be part of such an important cause and to me that’s the most important thing that we’ve done over the last ten years,” host Varvatos added. “To really raise the awareness and raise money to support helping these young kids.” To find out how you can help Stuart House, visit 911rape.org.

The Directors Guild Awards were held on Saturday in Los Angeles, and it was another big night for Ben Affleck! The actor/director was awarded the evening’s top prize, Outstanding Directorial Achievement, for his film, Argo, and he thanked his wife, Jennifer Garner (in Antonio Berardi), and their children in his loving acceptance speech. “I have to just thank my wife for being the best person in the world. I love you,” Affleck said. “I don’t need to look at the teleprompter to know why I want to thank you. I want to thank you because I love you.“ And he wasn’t the only winner: Lena Dunham (in Thakoon) went home with a DGA for the pilot of Girls, while the Les Miserables cast showed up, too, with director Tom Hooper staying close to stars Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway (in Valentino) throughout the night. Congrats, everyone—on to the Oscars!
