Jane Fonda’s New Exercise DVD, AM/PM Yoga for Beginners: Out Today!

Dec 4, 2012 @ 5:35 pm

Jane Fonda, who at one time earned notoriety as queen of the workout video, is back at it with today’s release of Jane Fonda AM/PM Yoga for Beginners DVD. The 74-year-old promises to help you “build strength, improve flexibility, and relax the body” with this disc, providing three workouts for morning and two for evening. Studies have shown that a regular yoga practice can relieve stress, melt away the pounds, and even help relieve asthma attacks. It can also increase your mental prowess, a trait we already know Jane admires. “I’ve learned to be more self-aware,” she told InStyle.com at a New York fundraiser for her charity, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention. “I didn’t pay attention [when I was younger], and I wish that I had. I used to think it was a bad thing, but I now think it’s a good thing to know who you are and how you want to present yourself to the world.” Click here to shop her yoga DVD. Namaste to all!

Jane Fonda’s Advice to Her Younger Self: “It’s a Good Thing to Know Who You Are”

Oct 17, 2012 @ 1:24 pm

Jane Fonda has been in the film industry for more than 50 years, so, not surprisingly, she’s learned a thing or two about life (and working the red carpet). Note the on-trend gold leather jacket and cream ensemble (shown right) that the legendary actress/fitness guru wore to the Los Angeles premiere of her HBO drama The Newsroom. We caught up with Fonda at a New York fundraiser for her charity, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, and wanted to know what advice the 74-year-old star would give her younger self. “To be more self-aware,” she told InStyle.com. “I didn’t pay attention back then and I wish that I had. I used to think it was a bad thing, but I now think it’s a good thing to know who you are and how you want to present yourself to the world. I didn’t then.” She certainly gives the impression of a self-possessed woman, and we love that she’s an active charity supporter to boot!

At 74, Jane Fonda’s no-stopping-her attitude to red-carpet dressing continues to land her on many best-dressed lists—including ours. The Oscar-winning actress knows how to flaunt her figure in looks from houses big and small, like Roberto CavalliVersaceStella McCartney, and Marios Schwab, shown above from left to right. And she doesn’t work alone. “I work with a stylist named Tanya Gill,” told InStyle.com at a New York fundraiser for her charity, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention. “In Cannes I worked with Michael Angel—he’s the one that put me in the Versace metallic dress.” (Above, second from left.) Her secret? Sticking to what she likes. “A lot of times on red carpets, I’ve worn things that I wore four or five red carpets before,” she said. “I don’t want to spend a lot of money on clothes, and it’s too much trouble. Designers will loan you stuff on special occasions.” Her favorites? All of them! ”I just like the clothes!” she said.

Jane Fonda Recreates Oscar-Winning Klute Fashion for Charity

Oct 12, 2012 @ 11:50 am

Four decades after the mystery thriller Klute earned Jane Fonda her first Oscar, she recreated one of the most iconic looks from the 1971 film at a fundraiser in New York last night—the trench coat, shown here. “It never occurred to me [when we were making the movie] that the clothes would become an iconic fashion statement,” the actress told InStyle.com at the event, held at the Darby Downstairs. “They were just the clothes that I wore [in real life], and I wanted to wear them in the movie. A lot of the clothes were mine—the boots, the purse, the choker, the short leather skirt.” The reenactment was part of a fundraiser for her charity, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, which she founded in Atlanta in 1995. She enlisted the film’s original costume designer Ann Roth to design last night’s replica trench, which was auctioned off to raise money for her organization (it sold for $1,000). The moment touched many guests, including Bravo’s Andy Cohen, who interviewed her about the movie’s wardrobe Watch What Happens-style in front of the crowd. “Jane is one of the few women who has reinvented herself almost in every decade, and has remained gorgeous through it all, and iconic, and aspirational, and fashionable,” he told us. “There’s nobody on the planet who has had the life that Jane Fonda has had.

How to Get Elizabeth Banks’s Smooth Skin

Mar 13, 2012 @ 5:30 pm

Elizabeth Banks shined at the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games, and not just because of her blood orange Atelier Versace dress. Thanks to makeup artist Fiona Stiles, the Effie Trinket actress got a dose of glowing skin. “I have always thought that Elizabeth looked like a young Jane Fonda, so I used Barbarella as a reference for the makeup,” Stiles told InStyle.com. To achieve the fantasy look, Stiles swept Benefit’s Sun Beam ($26 at benefitcosmetics.com) over the bridge of Banks’s nose after applying foundation, then used the NARS Cap VertBronzer ($38 at narscosmetics.com) to define her cheekbones. She set her complexion with loose powder, and finished with a generous sweep of peach blush. Now that’s a look we love!

Jane Fonda’s New Fitness DVDs!

Nov 1, 2010 @ 3:08 pm

“Do you feel as good as you look?” Oprah Winfrey asked a svelte and sexy Jane Fonda during her appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show last week. “Yes,” the 72 year-old Fonda said. “I think it’s just getting better!” Almost 30 years after she helped spread the aerobics craze around the country, Fonda is slipping back into spandex for “Jane Fonda: Prime Time Walkout” and “Jane Fonda: Prime Time Fit & Strong,” two new DVDs set to hit stores on November 30th. “It’s not marathon stuff,” Fonda told Oprah of the low-impact moves, meant to motivate people of all ages, including seniors, who are looking to ease back into exercise. “It’s very doable.” While Fonda (who became a bona fide sex symbol when she starred as a space-swimsuit-clad astronaut in the 1968 flick Barbarella) admitted that she’s also used cosmetic surgery to stay looking great, she maintains that staying in shape is the best way to fight the effects of aging. “I’ve been writing a book…and in the research I did, it was clear that one of the most important things is to stay physically active,” she told Oprah. “Not just for your body and your muscles, but for your brain.” She may have lost the leg warmers, but Fonda’s still got the ability to inspire! Tell us: Have you ever used one of Jane Fonda’s workout videos?
