The first photos have emerged of Minka Kelly portraying First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis for the upcoming 2013 movie The Butler, and she looks every bit the part. In Jackie’s iconic pillbox hat, a shift dress, and three-strand pearls, Kelly recalls the former First Lady’s classic, chic 1960s style, a look women across the nation still aspire to replicate. And Minka isn’t the first—stars like Katie Holmes, Jaclyn Smith, and Sarah Michelle Gellar have all taken turns as Jackie O. Click through to see them all.

On August 15th, the British auction house Bonhams will hold its “Pioneers of Pop Culture” sale. One of the big-ticket items on offer? A triple-strand fake-pearl necklace originally owned by none other than Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The champagne-colored “pearls,” which fasten with a faux diamond and emerald clasp, are expected to sell for upwards of $40,000, although a jewelry expert at Bonham’s acknowledged that the high price is due almost entirely to cachet conferred by the former First Lady. “The triple-strand necklace on its own would be worth at most in the very low hundred (pounds),” Jean Ghika said. “It’s fair to say that 99.9% of the value is because they belonged to Jackie Kennedy.”
Katie Holmes‘s penchant for classic fashion will come in handy for her next role: She’s playing former first lady Jackie Kennedy in the upcoming miniseries “The Kennedys.” Currently filming opposite Greg Kinnear (who plays JFK) in Ontario, Canada, Holmes was snapped looking very much the part in a heavy bob and a light blue shift dress. Of course, she’s not the only star taking on Jackie—British actress Rachel Weisz is also planning to play the style icon in a movie, Jackie, directed by her husband Darren Arnofsky—but Holmes got there first, and we think that she looks great embodying Jackie’s version of 1960s chic. The eight-hour miniseries, which will examine the Kennedy family political dynasty and the early years of JFK’s presidency, is set to air on the History Channel in 2011. We can’t wait to watch, but will you be tuning in? Tell us in the comments section below!
Katie Holmes has been tapped to play Jacqueline Kennedy in the History Channel’s new miniseries The Kennedys. With her cropped bob, demure smile and penchant for classic fashion (not to mention her experience playing wife to a famously handsome man), we can easily see Holmes slip into the role of the iconic First Lady. She will star alongside Greg Kinnear as President John F. Kennedy Jr. in the 8-hour series, which is set to premiere sometime in 2011. Click on to see Katie Holmes channeling Jackie O’s famous style.
Rachel Weisz has been tapped to play iconic First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in an upcoming biopic, Jackie. The film, which will be produced and directed by Weisz’s fiancee Darren Aronofsky, follows Jackie during the four days in 1963 between President Kennedy’s assassination and burial. No details about the movie’s release are yet available, but one thing is for sure: We can’t wait for Weisz’s performance—or her costumes.
