New In Stores: Hermès’ Jour D’Hermès Fragrance!

Feb 22, 2013 @ 5:04 pm

Hermès just launched a must-have for spring! After years of work by creator Jean-Claude Ellena, the label’s Jour D’Hermès fragrance is now in stores. “I started to work on Jour D’Hermès nearly three years ago,” Ellena told InStyle.com at the perfume’s launch event. “The first draft used wood and patchouli notes, and smells nothing like it does today. It’s very classic, but in other ways it’s modern since it doesn’t smell old-fashioned.” Housed in a light-catching flacon designed by Pierre Hardy, the scent uses light florals with a slight citrus twist, but the specific bouquet is up to your own interpretation. “It isn’t about one flower in particular. People can choose, and I think it’s more feminine that way,” Ellena added. Pick up a bottle, priced from $108 to $149, at hermes.com now!

The People Who Handcraft Hermes Are Coming to a City Near You

Sep 5, 2012 @ 8:30 pm

If you’re in New York, San Francisco, or Houston, put this on your To Do List: the Hermès Festival des Métiers. The luxury label is setting up shop in three cities and flying in its craftsmen to show the public how their silk scarves, diamond jewelry, painted crystal, and beyond are made—sometimes painstakingly—by hand. (Example: Each color in an Hermès scarf gets its own print, engraving, and screen.) This is the second year the luxury label pulled off this kind of event, and we hope it returns every year. There’s nothing like seeing something so luxurious being made right in front of you. The festival is in New York (583 Park Avenue) now through September 9th; San Francisco (Union Square Park) from September 20th to 24th, and Houston (1800 Post Oak Boulevard) from October 10th through 14th; visit hermes.com/festival-usa for more information.

Jane Birkin Auctioned Off Her Namesake Hermès Bag for Charity!

Apr 18, 2011 @ 2:30 pm

Jane Birkin auctioned off her Hermès Birkin bag (yes, the original) to benefit earthquake relief efforts in Japan! The worn-in purse, which Birkin decorated with stickers and talismans from her travels, fetched £100,100 on eBay this weekend—or about $162,840 at the current exchange rate, and all of the proceeds will go to the British Red Cross. “It’s very nice that everyone’s got one or wants one,” Birkin told Vogue. “I keep saying to Hermès to make it out of plastic or, even more fun, make it out of cardboard. Then it wouldn’t be so heavy.” That’s one way to shorten the wait list for the sought-after style!

Ashley Tisdale Scores Her First Birkin Bag!

Apr 12, 2011 @ 4:40 pm

Ashley Tisdale is excited about something today, and it’s not just because photos of her posing nude for a magazine were just released. It’s because she went shopping! The Hellcats and High School Musical star scored her first Birkin bag by Hermès! “After two years of waiting the New York Hermes store came through!! Aaahhh!!!!!” the 25-year-old Tweeted today in reference to the infamously long wait list the store traditionally has for one of these accessories. Tisdale bought a cobalt blue version, one of the most popular colors of spring so far. The Hermès store in New York sells the Birkin bag for $9,000 and up, a salesperson tells us.
