Celebrities love Lorena Sarbu! It’s only been three years since the Romanian-born, New York-based designer launched her first eveningwear collection, and her creations have already become red-carpet favorites, appearing on Carrie Underwood, Emma Stone, Heather Morris, Miranda Lambert, and more. ”The woman I design for is ambitious, she’s confident, she’s determined,” Sarbu told InStyle.com at her fall 2012 fashion show. “But she’s also authentic, she’s not afraid to show emotion. In fact, I welcome that to my designs. I want to translate this femininity and this toughness.” The mix is clear in Sarbu’s delicate gowns teamed with serious embellishments, and intricately beaded dresses with gutsy, up-to-there hemlines. Getting ready for a big event yourself? Heed her advice when choosing an outfit: “Just listen to your instincts.” See who else loves Sarbu’s designs in the gallery—we could be seeing something of hers at the Oscars this Sunday!

Glee fans geared up for the Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Finn Hudson (Cory Montieth) wedding during last night’s episode, and we were excited to see what the type-A Rachel planned for her big day. Thanks to the researchers at fashionofglee.tumblr.com, we know the hot pink belted bridesmaids dresses that Mercedes (Amber Riley), Sugar (Vanessa Lengies), Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), Brittany (Heather Morris), and Santana (Naya Rivera) wore are from the Merona Collection at Target, and they accessorized with ivory pointed-toe heel by Ivanka Trump. It’s nice to see the costume designers kept the look budgety-friendly and high-school appropriate—the dress sold for $40, though it’s no longer in stores, and the patent pumps are available for $120 at zappos.com. Sadly, with Quinn’s (Dianna Agron) accident, the “I dos” never happened. Here’s to hoping they’ll pick up where they left off when the show returns in April! Tell us: Do you like their bridesmaids look? Let us know in the comments!

SAG Awards: Glee Fashion!

Jan 30, 2011 @ 10:49 pm

The Glee ladies shined on the SAG Awards red carpet. Most of the cast’s leading ladies chose light colors, like Lea Michele in a sparkly dress by Oscar de la Renta, Heather Morris in a blush chiffon Romona Keveza gown and Jayma Mays in a peach Jenny Packham dress that featured a beaded sleeve. Meanwhile, Amber Riley and Dianna Agron both chose dark hues; Riley in a black Anne Barge mermaid gown and Agron in a navy tea-length Chanel couture look. “I’ve never felt girlier!” said Agron, pictured. See the Glee cast’s red-carpet style in the gallery.

Good news for Gleeks! You’re about to see a lot more of Heather Morris. The 23-year-old actress—who plays the ditzy and lovable cheerleader Brittany S. Pierce on Glee (remember when she killed it covering Britney Spears on the show this season?)just signed a deal to be the face of Flirt cosmetics. “Brittany is the biggest flirt on Glee, so there’s that,” Morris told WWD of her new gig. “Not to mention I’m obsessed with the Flirt makeup.” Morris kicks off her duties as an official Flirt-er this spring with the launch of a mascara and scent.

We Got the Scoop on Glee‘s Second Season Style!

Like all Gleeks, we are dying for Tuesday’s premiere of Fox’s singing, dancing smash! Thankfully, costume designer Lou Eyrich gave us a sneak peek into dressing Rachel, Finn, Quinn and the rest of the New Directions gang (along with, oh yeah, guest stars like Britney Spears). With nine to eleven costume changes per character, per episode, Eyrich and her team are in perpetual motion. “We wing it every single day,” she says. “We might have the cutest idea for dance number outfits. Then we see the videos from the choreography rehearsals and say: ‘Okay, that’s not going to work—get rid of the jumpsuits.’ We might have put them in pencil skirts and they were falling all over the place.” This season, Rachel Berry’s wardrobe grows up (from girlish skirts to womanly dresses), Tina goes Steampunk (“It’s like old Victorian meets modern meets futuristic”) and Kurt, now out of the closet, pushes his high-fashion style a little further. Eyrich is just careful to keep the looks appropriate for Ohio high schoolers. “This show is not really about fashion, it’s about character,” says Eyrich, who shops for the cast at H&M, Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. “It’s not like Gossip Girl, where there’s all this great fashion that you would tune in to see.” The only exceptions? “We go a little overboard for things like Gaga, Britney and Madonna, but that’s because, you know, it’s for Gaga, Britney and Madonna.” And, speaking of divas, (spoiler alert!) there might be some more Lady-level costuming ahead: “[New castmember] Charice and Lea Michele do an incredible version of ‘Telephone.’” Click on for more secrets from the set of Glee!
