Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her Fashion Star Outfit, Week 8

Apr 26, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

The print on this Halston minidress is gorgeous. I was drawn to the mustard tones, which made me feel very 1970s glam. I went for a faux-bob with my hair, but a loose, wavy one to keep the look relaxed. I wore killer yellow metallic heels from one of my faves, Jimmy Choo, and then my absolute talisman, a ring designed by my friend Mesi Jilly. She has them all made in Italy and you can choose the stone—mine is Labradorite and it changes tone in different lights. This look was quite sophisticated and different from what I usually throw on, but I had fun wearing it!

Halle Berry always manages to turn heads on the red carpet, and it always seems so effortless. How does she do it? “When I think about how I want to be, I like to be less is more,” the Oscar-winning actress told InStyle.com at the launch of Revlon’s new soufflé-like ColorStay Whipped Crème foundation in New York recently. “I try to be more simple and not let the clothes wear me but me wear the clothes.” In addition, comfort is key. “I generally want to feel comfortable,” she said. “No bells and whistles. Try to find a simple way. That’s what I try to achieve!” Judging from her most memorable “less-is-more” looks—from left, Kaufmanfranco at a 2009 event, Nina Ricci at the 2011 Golden Globes, Halston at the 2011 FiFi Awards, and Elie Saab at 2002 Oscars—it’s mission accomplished!

Halston‘s fall 2011 collection was full of sultry looks for day and night. Floor-length dresses revealed hints of skin with high-slits or peek-a-boo cutouts. Which Stylish Summer Movie Tops Your Must-See List?

Apr 23, 2010 @ 11:49 am

Summer is just around the corner, and we plan on getting some serious style inspiration from the season’s upcoming films. Sex and The City 2 (out May 27th) is number one on our list of must-watch wardrobes—Sarah Jessica Parker‘s playful, pleated Halston Heritage dress is just one of many colorful ensembles we’ve already spotted on the set. And we can’t wait for Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba’s retro dresses and red lips in the 1950s-set crime noir The Killer Inside Me (June 18th). Katherine Heigl will sport sleek sheaths as an assassin’s wife in Killers (June 4th), while Cameron Diaz will dodge secret agents in chic menswear suits (that inspired a collection for Brooks Brothers) in Knight & Day (June 25th). Finally, Julia Roberts will take us on her stylish journey around the world in Eat Pray Love (August 14th). Tell us: Which stylish summer movie are you most excited to watch?

New Halston Documentary To Premiere At Tribeca Film Festival

Apr 2, 2010 @ 12:40 pm

This year’s Tribeca Film Festival promises to be packed with style! Not only will a documentary about Vidal Sassoon be making its world premiere at the N.Y.C. festival, but a film about another legendary tastemaker is also set to debut. Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, a portrait of designer Roy Halston Frowick, will premiere on April 30th. The film documents the glamorous life of Halston, who many call the first true celebrity designer, and includes interviews from some of his famous friends like Diane Von Furstenberg, Liza Minnelli, Anjelica Huston and Billy Joel. The house of Halston has been having a recent revival—the brand’s new president and chief creative officer Sarah Jessica Parker has been spotted in many of its designs—and we can’t wait to watch the story of the man who started it all come to life!
