Watch Now: Jennifer Aniston Talks Her Famous Hair for Living Proof

May 9, 2013 @ 5:20 pm

Jennifer Aniston has a new project centered around her most famous feature: her gorgeous hair! She and her longtime stylist and friend Chris McMillan partnered with biotech haircare line Living Proof, and together they’re releasing three videos for a series called (what else?) Good Hair Day. “The timing of this was awesome,” Aniston told InStyle.com at a New York preview of the launch. “They said, ‘Will you join us, we’re a new company we want to grow and create awareness.’ I’m not just the face.” She also noted that she and McMillan have been wanting to do something like this together for years and finally found a product they both believe in. Her favorite item is the Restore Mask Treatment ($42 at livingproof.com), which she claimed made her flawless strands even better. “This is the really big thing,” said Aniston. “I wash my hair, put it in, wrap it up, and sleep in it. It actually changed the texture of my hair.” Get more dish on Aniston’s famous locks by watching the video above, and check out the products at LivingProof.com.

Don’t “Call” Her Brunette! Carly Rae Jepsen Debuts Red Hair

May 9, 2013 @ 1:45 pm

Carly Rae Jepsen is the newest celebrity redhead! On the heels of the auburn hair trend sparked by Dianna Agron and Rachel McAdams, the singer showed off her fiery new strands on Twitter this week. Jepsen last updated her ‘do with a deep brunette shade in November, so we figured something was up when she tweeted “At the salon–doing something drastic,” on Monday. Soon after, she posted a picture of her new look with the caption “I’ve always wanted to go red!” We’re all for it—the hue is so flattering on her. Do you like her new look? Tell us in the comments.

Demi Lovato’s Hair Color Is Blonde Again

May 8, 2013 @ 10:50 am

And it’s back to blonde for Demi Lovato! After spending the fall and winter months as a brunette, the star debuted a warm golden hue at the National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day event in Washington D.C. Lovato is no stranger to spontaneous hair changes—she switched up her style eight times in 2012, starting when she kicked off the year with red hair. Her return to the pale flaxen shade marks her first hair makeover of 2013, and she joins Anne Hathaway and Drew Barrymore, who both made the jump from deep brunette to blonde. Anne Hathaway’s New Blonde Hair Color: All the Details

May 7, 2013 @ 10:00 am

Anne Hathaway is looking pretty in platinum! The star surprised everyone last night when she showed up to the 2013 Met Gala with her pixie dyed to a new icy blonde hue. “Drawing inspiration from unforgettable punk icons like Poly Styrene from X-Ray Spex and Joan Jett, I decided to go for a look that’s glam and edgy, yet youthful and fun,” her hairstylist Sascha Breuer said. “To enhance her punk look further, we decided to take her hair to the next level: A cool platinum blonde color!” Swapping shades just before hitting the red carpet? Now that’s punk rock! “We kept the style much shorter for Anne, and she had a lot of fun playing around with it,” he added. What do you think of her new look? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

How Dianna Agron’s New Hair Color Has Changed Her Wardrobe

May 5, 2013 @ 11:00 am

Do blondes have more fun? Not according to Dianna Agron! We caught up with the star at Brian Bowen Smith’s Chateau Marmont party in Hollywood, who told us how her new red hue has brought out a wilder side in her wardrobe. “As a blonde, I would have never put this dress on!” she said of her Marc Jacobs number. “We went to the store and we saw stripes, sequins, and animal print. It was all in the black, white, and taupe color palette which, I’m a big fan of, especially now with the dark hair. As a blonde, it wouldn’t work as much.” While we’ve never seen the star look anything less than flawless, we have to agree—the chic leopard print does pair nicely with her auburn strands, and we can’t wait to see the new outfits to come. “I’m gravitating to things that I wouldn’t normally wear,” she added. As the clichéd saying goes, a leopard can’t change its spots, but you can change your hair color to complement them!

Editor-Tested: This Blowout Kit Just Might Be Competition for Your Hairstylist

May 4, 2013 @ 3:00 pm
Editor Tested - Bio BlowoutCourtesy Photo

From DryBar to Rachel Zoe’s DreamDry, blow-dry bars are taking the nation by storm, but hitting up the salons regularly can be costly. That’s why we asked InStyle.com Assistant Beauty Editor Marianne Mychaskiw to try her hand at a DIY version using Bio Ionic’s Blow Out Kit and report back on the results. See how the set fared below!

“Confession time: I only just learned how to blow out my hair about a month ago. I learned how to fake it pretty well, but my handiwork never measured up to the professional-level styles created at the salon. Bio Ionic’s Blow Out Kit ($99; bioionic.com for salons) was a game-changer. The kit is equipped with a handy look book that tells you exactly how to section your hair and directions for which way to wind the brush. It also comes with six detachable brush heads that double as velcro rollers, so you can clip each section into place to set once you’re finished. The barrels even change colors to let you know when each area is ready. However, if you have thick hair like me, you’ll need more than the six rollers to cover your entire head. Instead of springing for a second kit, start by working with the bottom layers first, press the button on the brush handle to remove the roller, then clip it in place. By the time you work your way to your top layers, the bottom portion is ready to unroll, so you can reuse the brush heads for the remaining areas. The result? A voluminous blowout that no one will believe was a DIY job. When I walked into the InStyle office after trying it, my co-workers all thought it was the real thing.”

Why Miley Cyrus Really Loves Her Short Hair

May 3, 2013 @ 11:45 am

Pixie cuts hold more style options than they get credit for, and just by changing up the texture, you can take your look from polished to edgy in five seconds flat—a rule that Miley Cyrus knows well. The star surprised everyone in August when she ditched her lengthy Hannah Montana strands for a punk rock crop, and she’s been playing with new looks daily since then. “It’s crazy because every day, your hair is different when it’s short,” the star told us at Brian Bowen Smith’s book launch in Hollywood. “Every day I wake up, and I get something new. So it’s fun!” Because of the ultra-short length, simple changes like re-positioning your part or giving your strands a slight tousle look more dramatic than they do on longer hairstyles. “It’s 100% the best bed head you could ever have,” Cyrus added. “You wake up and you feel pretty good, or if you don’t, you slap on a little Valentino pin and you’re like, ‘Okay, I’m cute today!’” Quick, chic, and easy—we love it.
