Rihanna’s $5,000 Grammy Manicure

Feb 17, 2012 @ 2:10 pm

What if your manicure cost $5,000? Rihanna’s Grammy look did! The singer attended the awards show with Red Carpet Manicure’s “Amor 24” shade swiped on her fingertips. Each bottle contains a full ounce of 24-karat gold, and sells for a cool $5,000. While individual units of this pricey polish aren’t available for sale, the company will be auctioning off a few and donating proceeds to charity. Luckily, there is an easier way to score metallic talons: Red Carpet Manicure will release a similar-looking polish named Award Winning at redcarpetmanicure.com this spring—with a much more manageable $10 price tag.

Take a closer look at the 2012 Grammys red carpet last night, and you’ll spot some of not-to-miss creative manicures. Keeping in theme with her Scarface-inspired Armani gown, Rihanna’s manicurist Kimmie Kyees gave the singer Red Carpet Manicure’s gel polish in the shade Amor 24, then added a gold dollar sign to her pinky nail. Adele took home her six new Grammys with couture claws, using Ciaté’s holographic silver on top and crimson underneath to mimic her sparkly Christian Louboutin heels. Meanwhile, Katy Perry worked a blue French manicure, and Lady Gaga chose long metallic grey talons. Get a closer look at their nails in the gallery, and see more chic Grammy manicures right now!

Alicia Keys (in an Alexandre Vauthier neckpiece) and winner Rihanna (in Neil Lane jewels) both wore solid, oversized jewelry made of gold plating, while red carpet host, Giuliana Rancic (in Georges Chakra Couture), Gwyneth Paltrow (in Stella McCartney), Paris Hilton (in Basil Soda) and Esperanza Spalding cinched their waists with solid metallic structured belts. Would you ever try the bold gold look? New daddy (and RocNation founder) Jay-Z couldn’t make the party, but he still managed to draw a slew of supporters to his label’s annual pre-Grammy brunch at Hollywood’s Soho House, where guests like Corinne Bailey Rae and Katy Perry got a chance to relax before the big night. “I woke up with my hair like this,” said Rihanna (in Bottega Veneta) of her laid-back look. “I only wanted something on my lips and to put on a suit.” See more stars who made the most of the music industry’s biggest weekend in the gallery now.

We love the lively and exuberant vibe Corinne Bailey Rae, Kelly Rowland, and Diana Ross brought to the Grammy Awards red carpet with their naturally curly hairstyles! Rae swept hers over to one side, Rowland gathered hers into a huge ponytail on the back of her head, and Ross let hers hang full and loose. So, do you ever wear your hair curly?

Jessie J, Fergie, Melanie Fiona and Tia Carrere all pulled their hair up tight into high, glossy ponytails at the 2012 Grammys. The look is at once simple and dramatic—and it’s a fun way to show-off extra long extensions. Wrapping a section of hair around the base of the ponytail and securing it with a bobby pin conceals the elastic and dresses the look up for the red carpet. Fergie, who won for her “All of the Lights” collaboration, used this very trick.

Grammys 2012: Inside the Warner Music Group and InStyle Party!

Feb 13, 2012 @ 12:25 pm

After the last trophy was handed out at the Staples Center, Fergie, Lana Del Rey, John Legend and more of the industry’s hottest stars made a beeline to the famed Chateau Marmont Hotel for a post-Grammy bash hosted by the Warner Music Group and InStyle. “This party is so crowded!” declared Blake Shelton (in Ermenegildo Zegna), who made the rounds with wife Miranda Lambert (in Atelier Pavoni). After stopping by the Champagne Bar for a glass of Beau Joie bubbly, guests rocked out to a performance by Bruno Mars. Luckily for late arrivals like Paul McCartney, the dance floor stayed open well into the early hours of the morning. See more party photos in the gallery!
