Gossip Girl Costume Designer: Blair and Serena Like Kate and Pippa

Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) looked gorgeous in her Vera Wang wedding gown on last night’s episode of Gossip Girl, but did Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) pull a Pippa and upstage the bride? Maybe, according to the show’s costume designer Eric Daman, who had the royal sister-in-law in mind when he picked out Serena’s Vera Wang maid of honor look. “I turned around and saw this beautiful pink chiffon gown, it was actually a bridal dress. It looked like peonies to me,” Daman told us of how he chose Serena’s style. “In old-world weddings, the bridesmaids would be wearing gowns, while the maid of honor would be wearing something a bit more glamorous. Gossip Girl‘s 100th episode opens with a Gentlemen Prefer Blondes dream sequence, and we have all the details on Blake Lively‘s Marilyn Monroe dress! “For Serena’s Marilyn look we actually customized Lily’s dress from the pink party in season four,” the show’s stylist Eric Daman told InStyle.com. “We added a giant bow and revamped it a little.” Daman hinted that Serena is wearing her mother’s dress for a special reason, but we’ll have to wait until the episode airs to find out!
