Ours did! As for the top leading ladies who will without a doubt stun on the red carpet, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, and Amy Adams received nominations for their leading roles in film, while Lupita Nyong’o, Jennifer Lawrence, and Julia Roberts were given nods for their supporting roles. For the small screen, Kerry Washington, Julianna Margulies, Zooey Deschanel, and Lena Dunham all were nominated for best actress in a television series. Scroll down to see the list of nominees and be sure to catch Miss Golden Globe 2014, Sosie Bacon, hand out the gold statuettes to this year’s biggest actors on Sunday, January 13th during the live awards ceremony on NBC.
Sosie Bacon is 2014 Miss Golden Globe! The 21-year-old daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick was revealed last night during the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and InStyle’s star-studded event at Fig & Olive in West Hollywood, and she didn’t end the night before getting some sound advice from last year’s Miss Golden Globe, Francesa Eastwood. “Wear comfortable shoes while you’re onstage because you’re going to be standing a lot,” Eastwood laughed. “And bring snacks at the backstage, I was eating the whole time.”
Bacon will be joining an elite group of women—including Rumer Willis, Dakota Johnson, and even Melanie Griffith—who have each made their debut onstage during the Golden Globes ceremony. “I’m so excited because I feel like everybody who has done it have really gone on to [do] some incredible things,” Bacon told InStyle.com. Don’t miss the young starlet at the 71st Golden Globes award show airing live on Sunday, January 12, 2014 and in the meantime, look through our gallery to see which of Hollywood’s big stars toasted to Bacon’s new title and kicked off the start of award season.
Congratulations, Sosie Bacon! The daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick was just named Miss Golden Globe 2014 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association during the reveal party at Fig & Olive in West Hollywood, and she will make her Golden Globes debut onstage during the upcoming 71st annual award show. So what exactly does this mean for Sosie? Traditionally, each year, a daughter (or son) from one of Hollywood’s bold name families is chosen and given the honor of handing out Golden Globe statuettes to winning actors during the ceremony, and did we mention she gets to wear a stunning gown? The honor can be seen as a coming out party, as it launches the young woman into the limelight and places her in an elite club of previous Miss Golden Globes girls, which includes last year’s Francesca Fisher-Eastwood (daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher), Rumer Willis (daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore in 2008), Fifty Shades of Grey‘s new star, Dakota Johnson in 2007 (daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, who also held the title back in 1975), and Scott Eastwood‘s sister, Kathryn, who was given the honor back in 2005. You may have already seen Sosie on the silver screen, her first role was in 2005′s Loverboy directed by her father when she was just ten-years-old and starred opposite her mother in the TV series, The Closer as Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson’s niece, Charlie. Catch Sosie during the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards airing live on Sunday, January 12, 2014.

There’s a reason Sofia Vergara looked amazing at the 2013 Emmy Awards—her red-hot Vera Wang gown was custom-made to fit and flatter her every curve. “Vera offered to make a dress for me, and of course I was very flattered,” the stunning actress told InStyle.com at the launch event for her latest Kmart collection. “My hair is blonde this year, and I wanted a contrast. She was willing to do two very beautiful red dresses in different shades for me,” she said. But what really had everyone atwitter (and tweeting) on Emmy night was when Vergara publicly announced she was wearing Kmart underwear. “I always wear Kmart underwear because they’re super-cute,” she told us. “Last year, I had a wardrobe malfunction and you could see everything. This year, I was prepared because you never know!” Her Kmart lingerie line launched late last year, and she’s been busy ever since creating new collections, including her upcoming fall/holiday line that plays up the aesthetics of her two favorite cities: New York City smart-chic and Los Angeles glamour. “I get very excited for fall/holiday because women want to look fancier, more elaborate, glamorous—we had a lot of fun picking materials and designs,” she added, calling out the black leggings with faux leather panels as one of her favorite pieces. And finally, with the Golden Globes right around the corner in January, we had to ask if she has a gown in mind. ”I might wear the leftover [custom Vera Wang],” she said. “It was beautiful, too. If I don’t find anything else, maybe I’ll wear that one because it was stunning.”

The stars stepped out in bulk to celebrate their stylists at THR‘s Top Stylist Luncheon last week! And while these dressing mavens see their famous clients ’round the clock, we were charmed to discover that even Petra Flannery, who styles Emma Stone, Zoe Saldana, and Claire Danes, gets starstruck when she sees one of her actresses in the perfect look. Her top 2013 looks so far: Danes at the Golden Globes in Versace Couture. “It was made and we were only able to try it on the night before! It was such a triumphant moment to have it all work out.” She also loved Saldana, who stood by her stylist’s side throughout the event, in that ruffled Alexis Mabille dress for this year’s Oscars. And finally, she told us that she adored Stone’s all-red Lanvin look for the Gangster Squad premiere. “It was one of those moments where the more you started adding, the better it got,” she said, referencing the addition of crimson heels and a ruby necklace. “It was a glamorous ’80s look, but because she’s modern and fresh and youthful, she pulled it off.” And we agreed—all of these ensembles made their way into our Look of the Day roundup!

Hathaway in particular has opted for fun and creative designs each time she hit the red carpet—at the Oscars, her pale rose nails were inscribed with the initials of her maternal and paternal grandmothers.
