Houston, we have a style-setter! With Sandra Bullock‘s new space-thriller Gravity co-starring George Clooney out in theaters today, we can’t help but stay fixated on the actress’s out-of-this-world red carpet looks that have made it to our Look of the Day section, almost every day. Starting with the 70th edition of the Venice Film Festival, Bullock wowed everyone in a bold red strapless J. Mendel silk bustier gown with a high-low hem and from that moment, she set the bar for her red carpet moments. Then it was off to Canada for the Toronto International Film Festival where the 48-year-old actress pulled off the color-blocking trend with a black-teal-and-pearl Narciso Rodriguez strapless frock, which according to her stylist Elizabeth Stewart, “we were going to go with something different, more gown-like, but we went with this and it worked.” When it was back in the States for the New York City premiere, Bullock wore another stellar look, this time a white draped Giambattista Valli mini dress with matching black-and-white Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos. Couture Fashion Week is not like any other Fashion Week. As a requirement to be part of Couture, each designer must create designs that are custom and hand-sewn, bead by bead and stitch by stitch. Couture is truly fashion as art—each piece that walks down the runway speaks to the designers’ creative visions. That makes it that much more fabulous to watch. We’ve been looking at each of the shows—Christian Dior, Atelier Versace, Armani Privé, and Giambattista Valli among them (as seen above)—and picking out the prettiest designs from each. Click to see the stand-outs, and don’t be surprised if you spot one of these unique pieces on a red carpet soon.
It’s Fall 2013 Haute Couture Week in Paris, and we have the inside scoop on the fashion, beauty, and celebrity sighting that you need to know straight from the City of Lights—no passport required. Jessica Biel turns 31 today! Justin Timberlake’s better half often makes our Look of the Day list choosing stylish pieces even the designers themselves fawn over. “Jessica is a great chameleon,” Giambattista Valli, the man behind Biel’s gorgeous pink wedding dress, told InStyle. “She can do the Venice Beach surfer look one minute and divine diva the next.” And whether she’s wearing separates, shifts, or stunning gowns, the birthday girl always looks fashionable in her red carpet styles. Anne Hathaway is now an Oscar-winning actress. She wore Prada (left) when she took home the golden statue for Best Supporting Actress for her tear-jerking portrayal of Fantine in Les Miserables, and she took one very long, well-dressed road to get to that Oscars stage. At the annual nominees luncheon before the big day, she still didn’t know what she would wear. “I need to get on that, don’t I?” she told reporters. “I definitely have some ideas, some cool options, but no specific plans yet, no preparation.” Whether she was wearing (L to R) Gucci at the Costume Designers Guild Awards, Chanel Couture at the Golden Globes, or runway-fresh Giambattista Valli at the SAG Awards, Hathaway always put her best foot forward—and she only repeated designers twice. Anne Hathaway’s Giambattista Valli Haute Couture goes the distance… literally! The black embroidered tulle dress the actress wore to the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards is a creation that just debuted in Paris six days ago, on the runway at Giambattista Valli’s fashion show during Haute Couture Fashion Week. Hathaway completed the look with peep toe Jimmy Choo heels and a butterfly manicure. Good thing that dress was such a standout: The actress stood before audiences at home and in L.A. to accept her Outstanding Supporting Actress award for Les Miserables.

When the gorgeous Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake tied the knot in Southern Italy last Friday, the bride wore a custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture wedding dress—and it was pink! The strapless silk mousseline and silk organza gown featured a pale pink floral motif and ruffles aplenty. Valli also incorporated Biel’s “something old” into her wedding look: The Italian designer created the veil using heirloom pearls from her grandmother’s wedding day tiara. Biel also paired the gown with Martin Katz Fine Jewelry light yellow pear-shaped diamond drop earrings set in 18kt rose gold; the baubles were microset with 96 fancy pink diamonds. And now for the awww factor… People reports that Timberlake played the guitar and serenaded Biel as she walked down the aisle. “It was an original piece I wrote specifically for the evening and for her,” Timberlake (who wore a Tom Ford tux he helped design) said. Guests at the ceremony included funny guys Jimmy Fallon and Timberlake’s former SNL cohort Andy Samberg. Congratulations to the happy couple! We’re jumping for joy right alongside you, Justin.
