Kate Middleton’s Tiara: Jewelry Designers Sketch Dream Tiaras

According to tradition, a royal bride wears a tiara on her wedding day. Queen Elizabeth II wore a tiara for her wedding to the Duke of Edinburgh, as did Princess Diana, who wore the famous diamond Spencer tiara, a family heirloom piece. What tiara will princess-to-be Kate Middleton wear if she so chooses to for her April 29th nuptials to Prince William? A likely conclusion would be that the Queen will lend her a tiara from the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom collection. However, in anticipation of this momentous royal accessory, InStyle tapped the creative minds of some of our favorite jewelry designers to see what they would design for Middleton’s special day. Fenton/Fallon For J. Crew’s Outfit-Making Jewels

What do you get when you pair J. Crew’s prep-goes-glam style with Fenton and Fallon‘s penchant for edgy, statement jewelry? The best of both worlds! Fenton/Fallon for J. Crew, which came about after J. Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons went wild over Michelle Obama’s custom Fenton/Fallon necklace. The resulting pieces are one part rebel (think piles of chains and spikes) and one part girly-girl thanks to perfectly-placed crystals and nuanced mixed metals. “It’s a little less statement-y than Fenton, a little more statement-y than Fallon,” Fenton/Fallon jewelry designer Dana Lorenz told Style.com. “I’m kinda loving the contrast with the preppy little blazers and things.” The pieces are in stores now, with prices ranging from $95 to $295.
