Hollywood’s brightest stars and indie film’s freshest faces hit Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, and in between the screenings and parties, some of our favorite actors—like Naomi Watts and January Jones—warmed up at InStyle‘s photo studio, hosted by the Grey Goose Blue Door. Kate Bosworth swung through with the cast of Big Sur, a film directed by her partner, Michael Polish. “This year, I’m with the love of my life,” she told InStyle of her festival experience. “It’s wonderful to wake up in the morning with not only your artistic partner but your lover and tackle the day. I’m so proud of the film and I’m so proud of him and I’m so proud of what we did together that it’s a wonderful experience to be here.” Click through the gallery to see six never-before-seen photos from inside the studio, and then flip to page 133 of InStyle‘s brand-new April issue—or download it to your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet—to see even more beautiful snaps by celebrity photographer Eric Ray Davidson.

How NBC’s Smash Is Involved in Donna Karan’s Leggy New Video

Feb 4, 2013 @ 4:29 pm

Jack Davenport and Anjelica Huston don’t just play friends on NBC’s Smash, they’re real friends in real life. That’s why Huston called upon her pal to star in Haven’t We Met Before, the new short film she directed for Donna Karan’s Evolution hosiery collection, and together they debuted the result at Donna Karan‘s Urban Zen store in the West Village over the weekend. “If she says jump, I’ll say how high?” Davenport told InStyle.com of how he got involved with the film, which he had agreed to after Huston asked him on the set of Smash. “It’s always nice to work with someone you work with in one capacity, and see them working in another one. It was as lovely as I expected it to be.” For the film, which you can watch above, Huston focused on the sensuality of the legs—it is for hosiery, after all!—casting Felicity Jones as the love interest to Davenport. “She’s so easy, beautiful, easy, the perfect girl,” Huston added. As for her Smash buddy Jack? “He’s a particularly handsome one and talented one, so it seemed like looking a gift horse in the mouth, as it were,” she said. “Not that I would ever refer to him as a horse,” she joked.

Sundance Hairstyle We Love: Felicity Jones’s Effortless Down ‘Do

Jan 21, 2013 @ 4:47 pm

Felicity Jones wore a simple down ‘do to make her rounds at the Sundance Film Festival to promote her new film Breathe In, thanks to the help of celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis. “Felicity has an ease to her style that’s very timeless and beautiful,” Francis told InStyle.com. “I thought her hair should be soft, full of body, and have that no fuss Sundance texture.” To create the look, he used a combination of Phytovolume Actif Spray ($28 at sephora.com) at the roots, with a small dollop of Rene Furterer Vegetal Mousse ($23 at beauty.com) on the mid-shaft and ends when hair was damp. He then dried her bangs using a 1/4″ Boars Head Round Brush, and teased the strands lightly to add subtle height. For the finishing touch, he added Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($39 at oribe.com) at the roots. “This gives movement from underneath the hair for lasting movement,” he said. Easy and gorgeous!
