After the CFDA Awards, it’s party time! Stars like Kerry Washington (in Jason Wu) and Sofia Vergara (in Herve L. Leroux) gathered in their best couture getups to fete the achievements made by this year’s fashion all-stars. Givenchy‘s Riccardo Tisci celebrated his win for the International Award with a hug from Jessica Chastain, and Elizabeth Olsen came out to support little sis and The Row designer Mary-Kate. Usually on the red carpet, the designers praise the stars. At the CFDA Awards, it’s the other way around! Celebrities including Sofia Vergara (in Herve L. Leroux and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry) and Kerry Washington (in Jason Wu), Elizabeth Olsen (in The Row), and Romeo and Juliet stars Hailee Steinfeld (in customized Swarovski-covered Suno) and Douglas Booth (in Tom Ford) were among the celebrities who helped honor fashion’s elite at Lincoln Center in New York City last night. With the event celebrating the best of the industry, it has a different feel than typical star-heavy awards shows. “I presented at the Oscars, and I thought, I’m an actress, so I understand talking about acting, but fashion is a bit more complicated for me,” The Office star Ellie Kemper (in Naeem Khan) told InStyle.com. “It’s intimidating because I’m in awe of what they do!” Click to see what everyone wore.
InStyle’s editors were busy this week, hopping from showroom to showroom (like The Row and Rodarte) during the days and attending fashion parties in the evenings (like the prom-themed Kate Young for Target launch), and we posted all of our must-see insider moments on Instagram. Every season, InStyle Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary picks out her favorite Fashion Week looks, and for the fall 2013 shows, she loved Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen‘s new lineup for The Row. “So, The Row is very understated, I know, but I love this coat and skinny pant, especially the white cuff under the trouser,” says Weber Cleary. “It doesn’t really come across as well in a photo as in real life, but these clothes are almost perfect. Grown up, beautifully made, versatile. Wow.” Check back every day to see more of Cindy’s favorites.

For spring 2013, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were in a romantic mood. Their soft, layered collection featured muted tones (with a few shots of red), rich details, and long, flowing hems. Each look, even the strapless evening dresses, were paired with minimalist flat sandals, giving the entire collection an effortlessly cool feel. See our favorite looks in the gallery!

The fashion industry celebrated one of its biggest nights at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards, last night held at Lincoln Center in New York City. And there was no shortage of stars on hand to support their designer pals, including Dakota Fanning (in brocade Proenza Schouler), Lily Collins (in funnel-neck Marchesa), and Zoe Saldana (in Prabal Gurung). “I just wanted to be sexy and feel very womanly, and he wanted that, too,” the actress told InStyle.com of how she and Gurung collaboratively picked her look. “We don’t censor each other. We have so much mutual respect.” A newly-brunette Mary-Kate Olsen and sister Ashley walked away as the night’s biggest winners, when Jessica Chastain (in Prabal Gurung) presented the twins with the highly-coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award for their label, The Row. “With the future of American fashion in such supremely talented hands, the next 50 years are going to be every bit as exciting as the last,” Chastain said. What a compliment! Visit cfda.com to who else won awards, and see more photos in the gallery.
Jennifer Nettles sang for one million viewers during last night’s Duets episode, and we caught up with the country star to get the details on her outfits for the ABC show. “I loved the chic versatility of my wardrobe in the second episode,” Nettles told InStyle.com exclusively. “My team’s song choices were varied, so I wanted to make sure we could achieve two, individual looks while being able to do so within the very limited, ‘quick change’ time we had between performances.” Nettles worked with stylist Gillian Steinhardt to create her two looks, which included pieces from The Row, Helmut Lang, and Isabel Marant. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen produced another luxe lineup for their high-end label, The Row. The fall collection includes uncomplicated, easy-to-wear silhouettes in minimalistic, neutral colors like black, navy, camel, ivory, and beige. Structured top-handle bags and envelope clutches in exotic skins accessorized each look, as well as simplistic cross-ribbon black flats. See our favorite looks in the gallery now.
