In a twist of seasons, designer Thakoon Panichgul drew inspiration for his fall beauty look from warmer climes. “Thakoon’s winter collection is inspired by summer,” said NARS lead makeup artist Diane Kendal. “It was a combination of rich fabrics with short-sleeved dresses, and heavy stoles with dragonflies.” Kendal reflected the deep tones with a piercing, slightly metallic, blue statement eye, while lead hairstylist Odile Gilbert created a sleek updo with avant-garde fringe for the hair. What’s better than turning 100? Turning 111! Bergdorf Goodman celebrated its birthday last night with a mega-bash at The Plaza, located across from its famous Fifth Avenue and 58th Street flagship. The New York design world came out for the retailer’s “111 Years of Extraordinary”-themed party, with designers and their muses covering every inch of the ballroom in the most extraordinary garb. The standouts included Coco Rocha in a Zac Posen bordeaux satin gown, rising style star Rita Ora in an old Hollywood-inspired white look by Emilio Pucci’s Peter Dundas, and Karolina Kurkova, who wore a Roberto Cavalli suit done in one of the label’s signature exotic prints. Other designer attendees included Thakoon Panichgul, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors. And, as if there weren’t enough showstoppers with the fashion alone, classical singer Sasha Lazard stopped by the party to perform “Happy Birthday” while a giant three-tiered cake—flaming with fireworks—was rolled on to the dance floor. Way to throw one “extraordinary” celebration, Berdgorf! Click through the gallery below for more photos from this week’s hottest parties.

Francois Nars and designer Thakoon Panichgul—whose fans include Rachel Bilson, Jessica Alba and Michelle Obama—are frequent collaborators, working together during New York Fashion Week. This season they’ve developed a limited-edition, six-color nail polish collection, making it the first nail collaboration NARS has ever done with a fashion designer. Inspired by the vibrant colors found in Indian Spice Markets, each shade is named after a spice or medicinal plant, including Koliary (cyan blue) and Anardana (azalea pink). The high-gloss hues are long-wearing, chip-resistant, formaldehyde-free and come in eye-popping brights just right for spring. Click through the gallery to preview the entire collection now, and shop them for $18 each at narscosmetics.com starting May 1st.
Easy outfit idea: Break up a monotone look with a bold belt in a different color. This month, Nicole Richie added a patterned style to her sunny Thakoon look, Mila Kunis toughened up a blush pink Dior dress with black leather, Reese Witherspoon reversed hers so the buckle showed in the back, and Kim Kardashian lightened her berry dress with a printed addition. Remember, when shopping for the accessory, stock up on a few different styles. Treat the dress underneath as just the foundation. See more celebrity belt inspiration in the gallery now.
Searching for Jessica Alba’s outfits this year pulls up more than 2,190 photos on Getty Images. So, which ones stand out to her? We caught up with the actress and mom of two at the March of Dimes’ 6th Annual Celebration of Babies in Beverly Hills this weekend to find out. “I feel sexiest in things that I feel the most confident in,” Alba tells InStyle.com of her red carpet choices. See her favorite looks from 2011 in the gallery.
