Sandra Bullock‘s new flick The Heat raked in $40 million during its opening weekend alone, and the star is celebrating on a stylish note! The 48 year-old actress caught our attention at the film’s very first screening in London, where she hit the carpet in a belted Victoria Beckham dress and L.A.M.B sandals. Opting for a range of noir ensembles for each event, Bullock proves the dark hue is anything but basic with each premiere look being more glamorous than the last. Bullock showed her love for warm-weather leather by incorporating the textured fabric into two of her red carpet looks: A leather cut-out Ermanno Scervino dress paired with Bottega Veneta sandals for the New York premiere, and an ASOS leather skirt, Michael Kors button-up, and Tabitha Simmons caged heels in Berlin. Another wow-worthy ensemble included a crisp black and white Roland Mouret number she wore to CinemaCon in Las Vegas. TV may have made the switch to color in 1953, but its biggest stars still love black and white. Diane Kruger (in Nina Ricci), Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza (in Roland Mouret), Veep actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus (in Reem Acra), and The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco (in Paule Ka) all stepped out in the clean, simple black-and-white for the 2013 Critics’ Choice Television Awards at The Beverly Hilton Hotel last night. The look, one of the most popular looks this season, is modern, cool, and assertive—but never in your face—and smacks of self-possession. “I love the cut,” Plaza said of who she chose her streamlined design. “It reminds me of vintage Sharon Stone.” Click to see what everyone wore to the ceremony.

To Oblivion, and beyond! That’s where Olga Kurylenko and her co-star Tom Cruise have been promoting their action-packed sci-fi flick, which hits theaters nationwide April 19. And for the movie’s global red carpet tour, the 33-year-old Ukrainian born actress has proven herself a darling of the fashion world, with some of the biggest labels dressing her every appearance. In Moscow, she picked a lilac Elie Saab Haute Couture floral embroidered dress; in Dublin, she went sleek with an emerald column by Roland Mouret; in London, she donned a black lace-trim Marchesa; and in Los Angeles, she picked a plunging embroidered satin Burberry design. And her love of fashion is newly-acquired: “I now understand this thing about taking care of yourself before leaving the house, no matter where you go,” she told InStyle last spring. Even when she travels, too: “I was getting ready to leave [on a flight], and my boyfriend asked me, ‘Why don’t you put on sneakers?’ And I said, ‘No way!’ I had on high-heeled boots. Heels were something that just didn’t exist for me before. But now I feel like I’m a woman.”

While New York Fashion Week and the Grammys have been taking center stage stateside, celebrities crossed the pond to attend the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards in London, where high-fashion dominated the red carpet. Marion Cotillard wore a sunny yellow Christian Dior design, Sarah Jesica Parker chose a black Elie Saab jumpsuit, Jennifer Lawrence picked a sequined strapless Christian Dior Couture gown, Amy Adams favored a Chantilly lace Elie Saab gown (and pink tourmaline earrings surrounded by 1,451 stones), and Jessica Chastain brightened up the carpet in a sapphire asymmetrical number by Roland Mouret. Katy Perry isn’t afraid to play up her famous assets, often sporting ensembles by Roland Mouret. In InStyle’s February issue, the singer’s go-to designer gave us tips on dressing a curvy body. See below for his advice!
1. Mind the middle: “Defining your waist is essential.”
2. Consider a modest neckline: “A scoop or boatneck only hints at what’s underneath and balances a top-heavy frame.”
3. Be bold: “A vibrant color or quirky pattern provides head-to-toe interest, as opposed to directing the viewer’s attention to just one particular area of your figure.”
