InStyle’s editors were busy this week, hopping from showroom to showroom (like The Row and Rodarte) during the days and attending fashion parties in the evenings (like the prom-themed Kate Young for Target launch), and we posted all of our must-see insider moments on Instagram. There are only two days left in New York Fashion Week, and we’re bringing you the best in clothes, beauty, star sightings, and more. Vera Wang walked bold autumn florals, Rodarte made a case for tattoo socks (with biker roses!), and Vanessa Hudgens admired Jenny Packham‘s fall dresses and bags, dripping in Swarvoski crystals, backstage before the show. From McQueen to Prada to punk! You’ll have to wait until May to see the Costume Institute’s new PUNK: Chaos to Couture exhibit, but press got to see a sneak peek yesterday—and sponsor Moda Operandi‘s Aslaug Magnusdottir was right there with us. “We’ll see in exhibition how pervasive punk’s influence has been on fashion and how it remains a powerful form of expression today,” Magnusdottir told InStyle.com. And co-chair Rooney Mara is living proof! From the bit we saw, you can expect patent leather and netted looks from Comme des Garcons and Rodarte. And remember that every exhibit is christened with the annual, ultra-glamorous Met Gala, where the red carpet will probably feature a lot more black this year. PUNK: Chaos to Couture will open at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 9th—will you be attending?
Update: The Met just extended PUNK‘s closing date from August 9th to August 11th, open 100 days total to honor Clash guitarist Mick Jones’ famous quote, “Punk only lasts 100 days in its purest form.” Sweet!

Kerry Washington turns 36 today! The star of Scandal and Django Unchained is a staple on our Look of the Day list, and is known for taking risks with her style. But she always looks gorgeous, whether she’s wearing (from left) embellished sheer Miu Miu at the Golden Globes, bright and colorful J. Mendel, white lace Rodarte at the SAG Awards, or a printed Giles gown. She is also quite adventurous with her hairstyles, and impeccably dressed in her role as Olivia Pope on ABC’s Scandal. Here’s wishing the inspirational star the best of birthdays!

Here’s an early holiday stocking stuffer idea: Rodarte’s new Starbucks collection. Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the Los Angeles design sisters behind the label, are showing off their love for caffeine with a limited-edition collection, which includes tumblers, reusable cup sleeves, tote bags, and a Starbucks gift card—nary a reindeer or snowflake in sight.“The collection’s pixelated pattern is modern, digitized and all about perspective,” the coffee house said in a statement. Look for the items in stores starting November 13th.

Natalie Portman was wearing Rodarte on-set when she met Benjamin Millepied, so it was fitting that the actress turned to the brand’s designers again when the couple said “I do” this past weekend. Kate and Laura Mulleavy, who created Black Swan‘s elaborate stage costumes, made Portman a tea-length white dress with sheer sleeves and a ruffled hemline for the traditional Jewish ceremony and vegan reception held at a private California estate, People reports. The bride then accessorized the look with satin ballet slippers and a traditional veil, topped off with a flower crown. So sweet!

Don Giovanni—Mozart’s opera about a young nobleman who becomes an enemy of three ladies—got a high-fashion makeover last month when the Los Angeles Philharmonic recruited Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy and NARS makeup artist James Kaliardos to create the costumes and beauty looks for their performances. “The makeup is abstracted, but rooted in classical theatre,” Kaliardos said of the looks, which featured saturated makeup hues contrasted by Rodarte’s delicate costumes. Keira Knightley recently announced her engagement to James Righton of the band Klaxons, and we’re already dreaming about what she’s going to wear for her walk down the aisle. The 27-year-old favors form-fitting looks with beautiful detailing, and she is particularly fond of Valentino designs for major red-carpet moments (shown here). Her other go-tos include Chanel, Rodarte, and Elie Saab. So, which will she choose? While we’re left to ponder until her big day, click through the gallery to see some of her best looks ever—her top designers all represented, of course.
