There’s no doubt that the competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics has been fierce, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the fierce fashion as well. Even a shared time frame with New York (and London, and Milan) Fashion Week, didn’t deter designers and stylists alike from tuning in to the enthralling games in Sochi. That’s why we enlisted the top tastemakers in the industry, including the likes of celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart and designer Rachel Zoe, to call out the best of the best in Olympic fashion. From German figure skater Aliona Savchenko’s Pink Panther costume to Ralph Lauren‘s patriotic Opening Ceremony uniforms, see the top six gold medal-worthy moments.
Now that’s how you do Fashion Week! Rachel Zoe—the doting new mother of her second son, Kaius Jagger Berman—shared this adorable Instagram photo of herself, a co-worker, and baby Kaius resting on her chest earlier this week while watching a runway show right from her bed. “This is how @msjordanjohnson of @rachelzoestudio and I watch the Oscar de la Renta show when no wifi at the office,” says Zoe in the caption. We love how flawlessly she pulls off mommy duty.
The stylist-turned-designer is currently putting motherhood before New York Fashion Week after she announced the postponement of her fall/winter 2014 show to a later date in Los Angles to WWD. “As a new mother, my newborn son is too young to travel with me, and I’m unable to leave him for the amount of time required to appropriately prepare for the show in New York.” While her market show of her Parisian-inspired collection went on as scheduled, Zoe is showing no signs of slowing down as she gears up for the Oscars red carpet and of course, next season’s Fashion Week. “I look forward to being back on the NYFW calendar in September.”

And the countdown has begun! There’s only a little more than a week left until the fall/winter 2014 collections debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which means you only have a finite amount of time to memorize the schedule before the fashion frenzy hits Manhattan (and Brooklyn, this time around). Read ahead for a breakdown of when and where your favorite designers are showing this season.
Awards season is in full swing, and we have the filtered snapshots to prove it! There’s Lupita Nyong’o, who aside from wowing us on the red carpet, took to Instagram to document her big SAG Awards win on Saturday night.
But the stars weren’t all busy primping and prepping (unless you count Emmy Rossum’s creepy-cool facial and Bella Thorne’s metallic mani!). They also spent the weekend baking, bonding, and celebrating good fortune (cookies, that is). Click through for the shots that caught our eye and thumb.
Diane von Furstenberg Celebrates the Dress That “Paid All My Bills” with Gwyneth Paltrow, Demi Moore and OthersJan 11, 2014 @ 3:05 pm
Last night, Diane von Furstenberg kicked off the 40th anniversary of her famed wrap dress with the launch of the “Journey of a Dress” exhibition at the Wilshire May Company Building in Los Angeles, now open to the public until March. To help honor the dress that started it all for the designer, von Furstenberg invited a few of her closest friends—including Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachel Zoe, Coco Rocha, Seth Meyers, Ahna O’Reilly, Demi Moore, Allison Williams, Ashley Olsen—who all paid homage to DVF by wearing one of her many creations (except for Meyers of course!) “This is the first time that I’ve ever honored the wrap dress, who has paid for all my bills,” von Furstenberg said to InStyle.com. “I took her for granted, and now I am honoring her and it feels good.”
Inside the gallery-style space, vintage and contemporary DVF designs were displayed on countless mannequins—including the very first sample of the wrap dress— dating back over the past four decades, as well as a collection of von Furstenberg photos created by artists and photographers alike including Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, and Annie Leibovitz, not to mention an oversized guestbook filled with loving notes written to the designer, which caught the attention of Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon.
As von Furstenberg greeted each of her guests—who all enjoyed small bites like mini shrimp tacos, mushroom crostinis, veggie samosas, and crispy white truffle risotto cakes—the designer saved her most glowing praise for the other “girls” in the room, those iconic wrap dresses. As she looked around at the hundreds of her creations on display, she admitted to InStyle.com, “they are all my children,” and she just simply couldn’t pick a favorite. Here’s to another 40 years!
Rachel Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman would like you to meet the latest addition to their family, Kaius Jagger Berman! Nicknamed “Kai,” the 7-lb., 12-oz. bundle of joy entered into the world earlier this week, and the beaming parents of two (older brother Skylar is 2-and-a-half) shared this adorable photo on Zoe’s blog, The Zoe Report.
“Rodger, Skyler and I are madly in love and will be happily hibernating for the next couple of weeks,” the style maven wrote. “Thank you for all of your kind words, as they mean so much to us.”
