Flashes of flesh are popping up all over the red carpet in the form of cut-out dresses. Stars love this look for its mix of sophistication and sexiness, and we saw plenty of skin-showing styles at the 2013 Met Gala last night. Gwen Stefani showed off her abs in Maison Martin Margiela, Solange Knowles added a pop of stomach in Kenzo, Olivia Wilde bared her belly in Calvin Klein, and Emma Watson favored asymmetry in Prabal Gurung. And that’s not all. Click to see more stars in cut-out dresses—because what’s fiercer than showing a little skin?
What are InStyle editors lusting after right now? From bags to shoes to jewelry—check out top picks from Randy Miller (an editor in our fashion department) and Marion Fasel (contributing fine jewelry editor) for our We’re Obsessed List. This white Dior rosette bag, Solange’s flaming heart ring, and these fierce scarlet and white Cassadei for Prabal Gurung wedges all got us excited. After the runways close for the night, the parties heat up during New York Fashion Week! Shailene Woodley made her way to the Hotel on Rivington to join Christian Siriano‘s after-party, Jaime King showed her support for Prabal Gurung at the private dinner at The James Hotel, and Bulgari spokeswoman Julianne Moore feted the Chinese Year of the Snake at the brand’s glittery private new year’s bast, complete with gold-encrusted fortune cookies. While Prabal Gurung debuted his Target capsule and his fall collection within days of each other, he also found time to collaborate with Casadei designer Cesare Casadei for a third shoe collection. “This season, our inspiration for Prabal’s military-like collection had us focusing the attention to the strong detailing of the hardware,” Cesare Casadei told InStyle.com, explaining the inspiration behind the buckles that covered heels, boots, and booties. The fall footwear will be available later this year—keep an eye out.

On the eve of his collection for Target hitting stores, Prabal Gurung is already looking forward, debuting a powerful collection fit for modern warrior women at New York Fashion Week. Tapping into how women want to dress, the designer showed impeccably-tailored military-inspired outerwear, chic dress-up-or-down separates, silk cocktail dresses with strategically sexy cutouts and slits, and effortlessly-cool gowns we can easily see on Gurung’s muse, Zoe Saldana. The accessories included fall’s soon-to-be must have shoe—a thigh-high gladiator boot with buckles snaking up the leg, designed just for the show by Cesare Casadei. Isabelle Fuhrman’s manicure proves she’s ready for Fashion Week! The Hunger Games actress popped by Prabal Gurung’s Target launch last night wearing a piece from the designer’s LOVE capsule and this spring 2013-inspired nail art. “Because I’m going to shows this week, I wanted to get really fashion-y nails,” explained Fuhrman. “My thumbs are spring 2013 Louis Vuitton. And then the white stripe was inspired by Moschino. And then [the thicker stripes] are Marc Jacobs.” And she wasn’t done there: “And then I wanted a bow, I thought it would be cute. And then sparkles, because you have to have sparkles on your fingers.” What a clever spring fashion forecast!
