As if we couldn’t love Target any more than we already do (hello, 3.1 Phillip Lim collection!), the retailer just announced Peter Pilotto as its next designer collaboration for Spring 2014! Just off the heels of Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos’s Spring/Summer 2014 show during London Fashion Week, the duo—loved by Kerry Washington, Cate Blanchett, and Emma Watson—will create a line of women’s clothing, accessories, and swimwear that we’re hoping will have the same colorful twists of prints seen in their recent runway collection. “By working with Target, we’re able to broaden our reach and bring our design aesthetic to an entirely new audience,” said Pilotto in a statement on Target’s website. “This is a pivotal moment for our brand. Our collection for Target embodies the elegance and spirit of our own line, but makes it accessible to everyone,” added De Vos. Available beginning February 9, 2014, most of the items from the Peter Pilotto for Target line will retail for less than $60. And not only will the pieces be available at target.com, but international customers can also shop the line at net-a-porter.com! Until then, let your excitement build even more and scroll down to watch the minute-long video showcasing the collaboration.
When Julianne Hough stepped out to the British Fashion Council’s London Show Rooms event in Los Angeles, she complemented her Peter Pilotto dress with a cute pair of white pumps, and we found them! These Musilova sandals are the product of Preen’s collaboration with Aldo’s Aldo Rise program, which aims to help rising brands like Preen inhabit the spotlight. And with fans like Hough, they’re doing just that! The style is available in Hough’s chosen Ice colorway or a more statement-making neon yellow and python print combo. Shop them for $155 at aldoshoes.com.

With fall being a season of dark hues, we’re thrilled to see stars livening up the red carpet in bold prints. January Jones worked a pelican print Wes Gordon dress at the 41st Annual Peace Over Violence Humanitarian Awards, Michelle Pfeiffer opted for metallic Barbara Bui dress for the 8th Annual Elyse Walker Pink Party, Kerry Washington tried a tropical style by British designer Mary Katrantzou for The Details premiere, and Olivia Munn attended the Courage in Journalism Awards wearing a psychedelic patterned Peter Pilotto style. “You have to have a little bit of fun, especially with prints,” advised Katrantzou of wearing in-your-face looks. “We all need a little bit of color and humor in our lives. Wear it confidently.” Agreed! Tell us: Which of these prints would you wear?

Pretty floral dresses are in full bloom on the red carpet, as seen on Keira Knightley (in embroidered Valentino), Elizabeth Banks (in Peter Pilotto), Emma Stone, and Katharine McPhee (both in Dolce & Gabbana). The key to this style is to play up the power of the petals—skip the overpowering shoes and bulky accessories in favor of bare arms and neutral heels. There’s no better way to strut through summer. Or to your next garden party.

Jaime King (in Peter Pilotto) and Dianna Agron made for a chic pair at opening of the new Persol Magnificent Obsessions: 30 Stories of Craftsmanship in Film exhibit at Museum of the Moving Image in New York City. Hosted by the Italian sunglasses company, the event celebrated the second installation in a three-exhibition series featuring some of cinema’s most iconic on-screen moments. Elizabeth Banks defied the don’t-match-your-lipstick-to-your-dress rule at the New York City premiere of What to Expect When You’re Expecting—and we loved it! “This is a case where matching a lip to a dress actually works because it ties the whole look together,” her makeup artist Gita Bass told InStyle.com exclusively. Bass used Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artiste Natural in Soft Fuchsia, a sheer, ultra-hydrating lipstick that can be layered for maximum impact to play up the punchy pink detail of her Peter Pilotto design. “I was so inspired by the gorgeous beaded flowers on Elizabeth’s dress and wanted to transform her into a glamorous spring goddess,” Bass added.
