Nine West hopes to give cancer the boot! The label has teamed up with the CFDA to raise funds and awareness for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, and they’ve asked models to help out! As part of their Runway Relief program, Nine West designed a boot with a built-in pedometer to be worn by 40 models during New York Fashion Week, including Chrissy Teigen and Carolyn Murphy, and the label will donate $1 to the FTBC for every mile walked. The boots are available online for $199, along with limited edition tank tops ($25), with all of the proceeds going to the CFDA’s charitable initiative. Now that’s fall shopping you can feel good about!
New collaboration alert! Nine West partnered with British designer Giles Deacon to create a whimsical collection of shoes, bags, and jewelry. “Partnering with a global footwear leader such as Nine West has given me the opportunity to expand my reach in the world of accessories and create a collection that reflects my design personality, while capturing the spirit of the brand,” Deacon said in a statement. Each of the pieces incorporates a cartoonish-alien-mouse-like character created by Deacon named Eek, a figure that often appears in his runway collection. “I was able to revisit one of my favorite motifs, Eek, and bring him to life through a completely new medium, which is exciting for me,” Deacon said. The collection, ranging from $26 for jewelry to $149 for booties, will be available at the Nine West Facebook Fan Shop and NineWest.com in August. Preview the collection in the gallery.
French designer Sophie Theallet teamed up with Nine West to create a line of shoes, bags and jewelry for spring that’s inspired by both her homes—her native Paris and her current city, New York. Each item includes striped fabric (the bags have striped lining), which is her signature, as well as a big spring trend. “I made stripes for the dress Michelle Obama wore, so stripes for me is not a trend, it’s something that’s part of the Sophie Theallet collection,” the designer (inset) told us at a preview of her collection, which she created with Nine West creative director Fred Allard. “It’s great because stripes are what’s going on in fashion—it’s perfect for now. Obama can wear these. Every woman can wear this.” The Sophie Theallet for Nine West collection ranges from $36 to $109, and lands in stores and online this May.
