It’s a big year for fashion designers! Kenneth Cole, Dennis Basso, Tadashi Shoji, Kate Spade New York, and Yoana Baraschi all celebrate milestone decades in the industry in 2013—from 10, 20, and up to 30 years! Kate Spade’s Creative Director Deborah Lloyd (pictured with the brand’s stylist, Brad Goreski) thought her brand’s 20th year in business was a good time to be nostalgic. “When I came in the ’80s, driving into Manhattan and seeing that amazing skyline, I felt all the energy and the possibility, and that what this [anniversary collection] is about,” she told us. Inspiring! Click through to see how each designer celebrated his or her fashion birthday.

Fashion Week Nail Art - ManicuresImaxtree (4)

New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and designers are nailing it on the runway with cool and creative manicures. “Nail art is wild! I love it because now everyone knows how exciting it is to be a manicurist,” Essie’s lead manicurist Michelle Saunders told us backstage at 3.1 Phillip Lim.”When you get a trend like nail art, it becomes a staple and a look. It may fade a little bit, but nails are a new—and permanent—accessory.” The 3D accents seen at Kate Spade and Libertine allowed the designers to bring a jewelry-like element to each model’s fingertips, and many other labels lacquered up in fun patterns. Click through the gallery to see more of the best nail art moments we’ve spotted on the runway so far.

Kate Spade’s 20th Anniversary Collection Is New York-Inspired

Feb 8, 2013 @ 4:51 pm

Kate Spade New York’s fall 2013 collection is definitely in an Empire State of mind! Creative Director Deborah Lloyd and Head Stylist Brad Goreski were both on-hand to unveil the brand’s 20th anniversary collection, complete with whimsical prints by artist Craig Redman and must-have bow-adorned “beau” bags. ”New York is the city our brand started in 20 years ago, so the inspiration is ‘when you first come to the city,‘” Lloyd told InStyle.com, explaining that even the pink leopard print featured was inspired by Studio 54. “When I came in the ’80s, driving into Manhattan and seeing that amazing skyline, I felt all the energy and the possibility, and that what this is about.” Goreski added that his favorite piece is the sparkling tuxedo heels. (Were the black bow-ties on them a nod to his own style? “Maybe!” he laughed.) The beauty also incorporated the history of the brand, as all of the models sported long nails polished in black or pink with gold studs that looked just like the quilting on Spade’s chain bags. Congratulations, Kate Spade on 20 years—here’s to many more anniversaries!

Kate Spade Named This New Bag After Pippa Middleton

Feb 4, 2013 @ 5:18 pm

Pippa Middleton, everyone’s favorite royal-in-law, inspired more fashion in her name—a bag by Kate Spade New York! The brand’s just-released spring 2013 collection boasts a structured bowler called the “Catherine Street Pippa” ($398 on katespade.com), and it comes in spring’s mint, pink, and cocoa, as well as tried-and-true black and a striped version, too. This is a sweet surprise, though we already knew creative director Deborah Lloyd is a huge fan. “They’re so gorgeous, they’re so down to earth, they are just intelligent, lovely girls who have really got their feet on the ground,” Lloyd had told InStyle.com of the Middletons. And the feeling is mutual—Pippa’s been spotted in plenty of Spade products!
