Jason Wu‘s latest launch is for a good cause! The designer teamed up with his artist pal Nate Lowman to create this limited-edition T-shirt to raise awareness and funds for ACRIA, an organization working to offer healthcare and consulting to those affected by HIV and educate people about the disease. The non-profit has been active for over 20 years, and the cause is a special one for Wu—he’s currently a member of its Young Friends of ACRIA group, which actively works to engage supporters under 40 in the fields of design, media, and arts. Proceeds from the purchase of Wu and Lowman’s design will benefit ACRIA; pick one up for $175 at jasonwustudio.com or acria.org.

CFDA Awards 2013 Fashion Photos: What Everyone Wore

Usually on the red carpet, the designers praise the stars. At the CFDA Awards, it’s the other way around! Celebrities including Sofia Vergara (in Herve L. Leroux and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry) and Kerry Washington (in Jason Wu), Elizabeth Olsen (in The Row), and Romeo and Juliet stars Hailee Steinfeld (in customized Swarovski-covered Suno) and Douglas Booth (in Tom Ford) were among the celebrities who helped honor fashion’s elite at Lincoln Center in New York City last night. With the event celebrating the best of the industry, it has a different feel than typical star-heavy awards shows. “I presented at the Oscars, and I thought, I’m an actress, so I understand talking about acting, but fashion is a bit more complicated for me,” The Office star Ellie Kemper (in Naeem Khan) told InStyle.com. “It’s intimidating because I’m in awe of what they do!” Click to see what everyone wore.

What Did Michelle Obama Wear to the State of the Union Address? Modified Jason Wu

Feb 13, 2013 @ 10:30 am

Michelle Obama wore Jason Wu (once again) for last night’s State of the Union address—but this time with a twist. The burgundy and black leather dress is a modified version of a cocktail look from the designer’s pre-fall 2013 collection. The designer converted the black leather spaghetti straps in his original into a full-coverage boat neck that still allowed the First Lady to display her infamously sculpted arms, along with a repeat Alexis Bittar floral brooch. “To have maximum effect at a big occasion doesn’t necessary mean having to wear a loud and overly embellished dress,” Wu once told InStyle.com. “Sometimes less is more.” This dress is a prime example of his vision. So, do you like her custom look?

InStyle’s Fashion Director Picks Her Favorite Looks: Jason Wu’s Pleated Dress

Feb 9, 2013 @ 5:41 pm

Every season, InStyle Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary picks out her favorite Fashion Week looks, and for the fall 2013 shows, this pleated white dress with leather detail from Jason Wu was the first to really catch her eye. “Jason Wu has really hit his stride,” says Weber Cleary. “Following his second inaugural coup, he showed his strongest collection yet. This beauty managed to be both ladylike and cool with feminine white pleats offset by black leather insets. Gorgeous!” Check back every day to see more of Cindy’s favorites.

Runway Looks We Love: Jason Wu’s Fall Collection Features the Same Red as Michelle Obama’s Gown

Feb 8, 2013 @ 5:46 pm

Jason Wu called his fall 2013 collection “Extreme Femininity,” and for good reason—each of the 43 looks that walked the reflective silver runway featured nipped-in, waist-defining silhouettes that celebrated the female form. The sleek black, white, and gray color palette was punctuated by shots of red (similar to the memorable hue of the First Lady’s Inaugural Ball gown), as well as a scene-stealing violet peplum gown that closed the show. See our favorite looks from the show in the gallery!
