We love Amy Adams style! She’s “the master” (get it?!) of knowing what does and doesn’t work for her—a trick she picked up from her stylist, Cristina Ehrlich. “The thing is with her, and some of my other clients I’ve worked with for a long time, is that you can really the choices that we’ve made are streamlined and very clean,” the stylist explained at the New York announcement of her Guest Stylist partnership with Coldwater Creek. “You can just really see that she’s wearing the dress and that she feels confident in it. They’re all really done proportionally.” And this goes for her range of looks, from solid colors to peplum to prints (from left: floral-printed J. Mendel, an emerald sheath, two-toned Vionnet, and polka-dotted Jenny Packham). Your lesson: “[It’s about] going for a very timeless and classic sensibility,” the celebrity stylist advised. “It’s very straightforward and it’s very clean, so I think that’s why with Amy these looks really worked.” Try it tomorrow!

Mythbuster: Celebrity Stylist Cristina Ehrlich Sets the Record Straight About Horizontal Stripes

Mar 22, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

Cristina Ehrlich is Hollywood’s go-to expert for putting together solid outfits—she’s behind the some of Hollywood’s most stylish, including Amy Adams, Ashley GreeneJulianna Margulies, Tina Fey, and rising style star Allison Williams—which means she knows exactly how to pick pieces that have longevity. That’s why Coldwater Creek signed her up as their Guest Stylist for the next three months—and we caught up with her in the label’s New York store to get her keen eye on spring trends. Her biggest tip: Don’t be afraid of horizontal stripes. “I really want to help women understand that stripes do work on all body types,” she told InStyle.com. “There’s a sort of myth and fear that horizontal stripes are going to make you look bigger, and it’s really not true.” Instead, a horizontal stripe on top just needs a perfect pairing, she explained. “It’s about understanding how if have print on top that you have solid on bottom, or if you want to wear a printed bottom you wear solid on top.” Words that her clients Williams and Fey clearly live by!
