Kate Middleton Looks Sunny in Yellow Emilia Wickstead

May 22, 2013 @ 5:15 pm

She’s out again! Today, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a garden party hosted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace, where she covered up her growing baby bump this sunny yellow silk coat with three-quarter sleeves by Emilia Wickstead. The piece is from the designer’s spring collection, available now for $1,826 at matchesfashion.com. This is a pretty color we love—basics such as black, white, or nude complement this shade. For a bolder contrast, experiment with tangerine, deep blue, or even purple.

Is Kate Middleton’s Pastel Blue Dress an Indication She’s Having a Boy?

Apr 25, 2013 @ 1:40 pm

Could Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge be sending the world a message with her wardrobe? If you flip back through the catalog of her maternity style choices so far, you might note that she has steered away from the pale pink Wickstead frock she wore nearly a year ago, focusing on more masculine hues like blue, green, and gray. Yesterday was the biggest clue, when she stopped by a reception at the London Portrait Gallery to celebrate The Art Room charity in a pastel blue Emilia Wickstead dress. Could the color of her frock be a subliminal message on the gender of her forthcoming child? You never know! Click the photo to see more of her maternity looks.

While we always admire the expectant royal’s toasty toppers for their chic shapes and bold hues (we counted 13 in 2012 alone), we especially love the last four she’s worn out and about—emerald Emilia Wickstead for St. Patrick’s Day, rose-toned Joseph for a day at the races, cream Goat for a visit to Child Bereavement UK, and yesterday, aquamarine By Malene Birger to ride the tube. Kate Middleton’s St. Patrick’s Day Style: She Wore Her Green Emilia Wickstead Coat Again, Plus Baby News!

Mar 17, 2013 @ 8:15 pm

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge headed to Aldershot, as she did last year, to hand out shamrocks to the Irish Guards—and she revealed an exciting bit of baby news, too! Much as she’s known to do, Kate repeated a look that we love—the emerald Emilia Wickstead coat-dress she wore to last year’s ceremony. To fit her growing baby bump, Kate removed the skinny black belt she wore with last year’s look, then finished her ensemble with all black accessories: a floral beret, a turtleneck, pumps, gloves, and tights. And then she gave the troops (and everyone else listening in) a very special treat: According to People.com, Catherine revealed to Sergeant Thomas Laven that she’s hoping her baby is a boy, while she also said her husband, Prince William, who was nearby, is rooting for a little Queen-to-be. Exciting! Tell us: Would you like Kate and Will’s baby to be a boy or a girl? Vote in our poll!

Celebrities in Pastels: How to Wear This Sweet Summer Look

Jul 6, 2012 @ 12:10 pm

Pastels are so sweet this summer—not only are the delicate tones a smash for hats, hair colors, and nail polish, celebrities also love the soft shades from head to toe. Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge chose tender yellow Emilia Wickstead, Emma Stone went for sky blue Emilio Pucci, Salma Hayek sparkled in an embellished Bottega Veneta violet sheath, and Diane Kruger looked ladylike in icy blue Chanel. This is a look that is as sophisticated as it is romantic, especially when paired with neutral tones for accessories and makeup. Kate Middleton Wears Yellow Once a Year; Today Is the Day

Jul 5, 2012 @ 11:05 am

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge has her go-to colors—red, ivory, white, navy—so it’s always a pleasant surprise when she throws another hue into her steady repertoire. That’s why we were excited to see her arrival at the Order of the Thistle in Scotland today wearing pastel yellow, as it’s been almost a year to the day since she’s worn the summer color. (She last wore it visiting Calgary, Canada in a silk Jenny Packham shirtdress on July 7th, 2011.) Today, she went more formal in a soft golden dress by Emilia Wickstead, a designer she’s worn several times before. The look took six weeks to make, according to Grazia, and she paired the style with black heels and a Whiteley hat she’s worn twice in the past. (If she wasn’t re-wearing something, it wouldn’t be Kate!) Tell us: Do you like her look?

Kate Middleton’s Pink Dress Works Double Duty

May 29, 2012 @ 5:55 pm

On May 18th, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore a rose pink dress by Emilia Wickstead to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee at Windsor Castle. Fast forward 11 days later—she wore it again! Today, she wore the pastel look to celebrate for a Buckingham Palace garden party. To be honest, we’re a little surprised by her double-duty pick, if only because it was for two events in a row (why not space it out a little?). However, it is very common for her to pull from her own closet and wear outfits multiple times. Want proof? See more fashion double takes made by the Duchess in the gallery.
