Christian Siriano to Launch HSN Collection: First Look!

Jan 28, 2013 @ 11:00 am

HSN is growing its designer offerings! The latest to jump on board is Christian Siriano, who will join HSN’s roster of designers this February during HSN’s Spring Fashion Series when he launches Striking by Christian Siriano, a capsule of skirts, tops, jackets, and dresses ranging from $80 to $170. “This is runway style that is accessible with a wide variety of styles that can be worn every day, at any age,” Siriano told InStyle.com of the offerings, named because he wants women to “feel striking and beautiful” whenever they wear his clothes. “The collection is romantic, powerful, and of course, glamorous because that is how I love women to feel when they get dressed.” And the Project Runway alum is excited to get back in front of the camera when he debuts the collection on HSN: “It’s great thing for any designer to be able to explain the process of their work in front of any customer,” said Siriano. “I think when you have a face and a heart behind a brand to support it then it’s much more powerful. I’m excited to bring my collection into women’s homes and make them feel comfortable when they make a purchase of any new spring item.” Click through the gallery to preview his collection, and shop it on HSN and hsn.com starting February 22nd. And stay tuned for more from HSN’s Spring Fashion Series when the company launches shoe collections by June Ambrose and Iris Apfel, as well as jewelry by Padma Lakshmi next month.

5 Shades of Grey Seen at Emmys 2012

In a year when every woman on Earth (and their mothers) read E.L. James’s Fifty Shades of Grey, the color now associated with BDSM-obsessed fictional Seattle businessman Christian Grey made a strong showing at the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. American Horror Story’s Connie Britton sparkled from head to toe in an ashy Andrew Gn halter dress, Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland co-designed her beaded dove Notte by Marchesa look, Homeland’s Morena Baccarin chose a deep-plunging Basil Soda slate design, Mad Men bombshell Christina Hendricks worked a silver curve-hugging Christian Siriano mermaid gown, and Revenge’s Emily VanCamp chose a foggy J. Mendel gown (one of a number of stars who donned a Gilles creation). Looks like everyone has a little Anastasia Steele in them—or at least the love of something grey!

Runway Looks We Love: Christian Siriano

Sep 8, 2012 @ 10:37 pm

Christian Siriano‘s designing dream may be a reality, but his collections are still pure fantasy! The Project Runway alum’s spring line came to him from an American Ballet performance of A Midsummer’ Night’s Dream. True to the onstage inspiration, the runway was adrift with floaty fabrics and graceful silhouettes that included structured peplums, tulle dresses and whimsical gowns. Not to be outdone, the prettiest shoes were satin and studded in crystal, while lace-up iridescent flats would make a dancer’s commute to and from the ballet a breeze.  See our favorite looks in the gallery!

Watch: Christian Siriano’s Vampire-Inspired Video

Aug 24, 2012 @ 9:30 am

To celebrate Christian Siriano’s fall lineup, the designer created a new campaign video playing off the vampire bat theme that inspired the collection—exclusively seen here first (watch it above!). “When you just see clothes on a hanger, you don’t see the story and this creates the story behind it,” Siriano told InStyle.com. The short features rising actress Nicole LaLiberteshe starred in Dinner for Schmucks and How to Make It in Americaplaying off the inspiration by gliding across the cavernous setting of The Vault at Pfaff’s in New York City. “Sometimes the vampire thing can be very overdone,” the designer noted. “Nicole makes sense because she’s more androgynous and quirky and her movements are more interesting and not just a sexy vampire, which I did not want. She is the perfect muse. And her look is so beautiful—I knew she’d look so striking with white skin and fire hair, it’s visually stimulating.” And to help with the visuals, Siriano enlisted the help of artist boyfriend Brad Walsh, who filmed and edited the video, scored the music, and shot the campaign. “He’s just very talented and being able to work with him during the day and then go home and talk about those things is great,” said the designer. “It’s important to our process.” Click through the gallery to see more photos from the shoot, and shop his fall collection on store.christiansiriano.com or find where it’s stocked near you at christianvsiriano.com.

Christian Siriano Opens First Store: See the Photos

Jul 31, 2012 @ 3:25 pm

Christian Siriano just opened his first store this morning! Located at 252 Elizabeth Street in New York City’s chic Nolita area, the designer’s new 1,000-square-foot boutique boasts a mix of pieces from his runway collection and exclusive items he created especially for the outpost, including accessories, home décor, and more. As for the store’s design, some of Siriano’s favorite books sit on the shelves (including his own, Fierce Style), and treasured pictures decorate the walls. “My favorite feature in the store is the gallery wall we created,” Siriano told InStyle.com exclusively. ”It features my favorite looks from my past nine collections, as they are my own work of art.” Click through the gallery to tour Siriano’s new store and preview the shop’s exclusive pieces.
